Hi Novorapidboi,

There shouldn't be any issues at the moment, the site move is now complete. One way to see if there is a difference between your home and work connection is to ping the site. If you are on windows, you can open up the start menu, click run and then type CMD into the box.

Once the black window with white text pops up type ping www.dafneonline.co.uk

There will be 4 lines saying Reply from xyz, notice the time=XXms entries, and let us know if there is any significant difference between home and work.

Theres been discussion and requests for an improved auto calculation of QA in the site and mbi,e apps, which take into account corrective dosages as well, and I'd like to get a consensus on how we should do it.

The first thing I should say is that we don't have the ability to deal with any lawsuits, as we aren't part of the DAFNE program and are a group of graduates just like you who do this in our spare time; so my first diorite is ensuring we dont get sued for providing inaccurate medical advice or similar.

That said , we also want to help graduates in any way possible, so I'd like to go ahead with this function and have created this forum post to ensure we get it right.

So, the auto calculation of insulin dosage matched to CPs is simple - its just take the CP input and multiply by the ratio for that entry type. The tricky bit is how to calculate the corrective dosage. An initial first pass at this would require users to enter how much they expect their BG to lower after injecting 1 unit of insulin. The app could then calculate the difference between input BG and target BG, and use this to calculate the number of corrective units needed. That way it isn't giving medical advice, just crunching some numbers.

However there are a couple of questions in my mind:

1. What would we aim for with the correction? Each entry type has a target range of mmol/l readings, would we aim for the middle of this, or err on the side of caution and aim towards the top end of the range?
2. Would we need to have different 'expected BG lowering values', for different times of day? Or for different levels of high BG? For me I find I can expect my BG to go down by 2 for each unit if. Or receive insulin, but as with everything diabetes related, everybody is different.

Hi Andy,

If there are over 10 entries in a day contained in the diary being generated the PDF will default to landscape orientation to fit them in horizontally. Below 10 it defaults to portrait which will give around 5 days per page. Unfortunately there is a tradeoff here between more days per page whilst keeping the text size readable.

I can't guarantee I can get more per page but will certainly try!

You won't have to delete them, you might have to go into one of the entries and save it again that will trigger the upload again.

Hi Phil/All,

We moved our servers yesterday - this requires us to 'tell the Internet' where dafneonline.co.uk is and this can take up to 48 hours to propagate across the whole of the Web. Keep on trying - if this persists for another 24 hours then let us know.

Looking at our error logs the issue is that the diary you are trying to print it too big horizontally, could you let me know the maximum number of diary entries you have in any day in the date range you're trying to print?

This will help us greatly to fix the problem.

It's good to know the app works for our blind users as well so thanks for letting us know.
Have you enabled the Diary Upload function on the settings page? If so then a popup window should come up with any problem information for the uploads and downloads; does the iPhone read this out to you?

Hi Everyone,

Could you take a look at the set of entries you are trying to download on the site and let me know (on the forums) if you have any entries which are the following type:

After Breakfast
After Dinner
After Lunch
Before Supper
After Supper
Illness
Fasting

I think the issue may be how the app deals with entry types which haven't been added to it's database yet. Please also let me know if the entries you are trying to download don't have the type set to any of the above - as this means that isn't the issue.

The DAFNE Online iPhone app should work on 3GS, however currently there's no support in it for blind users - if you let us know what you need in the app to make it work for you we can get going on it.

If you take a look at the top of the diary view, there is now an Export as PDF option, which will download your diary in a format which can be attached in an email and sent/read by your DAFNE Educator, if they have adobe reader installed (most people do).

Hi all,

Your results will vary when copy-pasting to an email program from your web browser, as there isn't any consistency as to how web browsers copy the things you select, hence it seems a bit hit and miss.

One thing I did think of - I'm sure it would be possible to generate a PDF (adobe reader) file from the diary view and then attach that to an email.

If this sounds like a decent solution for you then I'll get working on it.

1. Yep - we're currently working on updating the look and feel of the site, and with this we will be moving the popup box to always be onscreen under the list of posts, similar to other forums.

2. Can do this - although it will be a bit of work as we'll have to make it optional; some people may want to adhere strictly to the DAFNE targets.
