Topic: Carbohydrate Counting / Galaxy Caramel

I found for 3 pieces, 15g, which means about 30g for the bar, so that sounds about right..........

Did you get the same Gill?

Topic: Carbohydrate Counting / Galaxy Caramel

I've just looked up the Galaxy site. A 135g Galaxy Caramel bar has 60g of carbohydrate in every 100g of the bar, so that's 1.35 x 60 = 81g of carbohydrate in the whole bar. I didn't check, but I'm fairly sure the 60/100 ratio will be the same for any size of Galaxy Caramel bar so a similar calculation will give you the cho value for any bar. If you don't see where I get any of these figures from, please don't be afraid to ask.

Most chocolate bars give a cho value per 100g on the wrapper, do they not?

Don't worry. You are not. My results were a little adrift but not too bad. A few correctives needed at times like QA +5 on Christmas day evening Embarassed

I'm not an expert but I thought the pill was meant to regulate your periods. I'd ask to get it changed. There is bound to be an alternative.

Hello thanks for your suggestion. I'm afraid I've asked both my GP anddiabetes consultant and they've said the irregularity it causes is normal and to be expected. Also that's it the pill they recommend for diabetics and it's also the safest for an older age group and I have to stay on it. Thanks again. Theresa

Topic: Site Development / Access to Diary Results

In my own experience, basing decisions on results older than a week just don't work. I have made mistakes in the past believing what worked/didn't work according to my diary will/won't work again. It is no use to me to keep records. After the birth of my daughter 7 years ago I was put on Novorapid and Levemir.....at the time neither worked for me and after a couple of years of struggling I went onto Humulin I and Humulin S. The reason for this was because they worked very similar to Actrapid and Monotard which for 25 years worked beautifully. However, Humulin didn't give me much better control and my DSN suggested I go back onto Novorapid and Levemir....I refused point blank, remembering how much I struggled on these insulins.....However, in desperation I changed and, guess what, this time around they are giving me brilliant control. That proves that we shouldn't rely on 'history'.

Thats good..................

I attended DAFNE at Monklands, but my clinic is in East Kilbride, this may be the reason why I have has no contact...........

I also met up a few months later with my classmates to see how we were getting on, some better than others........

you can see my point though surely, looking back years wont be able to help you now.............

you cant change the past................yes, you can look back at previous years control, but all you find out is an indication of what damage may be done, whether it be considerable or insignificant............

but everyone should have the opportunity to keep a hold of there results and take from it what they can............

I have results in the online diary going back over a year, its good to have these results, but they cant provide me with anything, can they?

I did DAFNE at Monklands back in 2008 and have had regular follow ups.

At 3 months after the same group got back together to see how we'd come on and share success stories or just how it was going for us.
At 6 months I was asked at my regular appointment how DAFNE was working and we both decided I was doing fine.
1 year later I got an afternoon refresher with a bunch of strangers and this was good for me to see how people I hadn't done the course with coped. The times we did our courses were different 2008, 2009 so I don't know if it's a regular thing or not.
A couple of months ago I got a letter asking if I wanted to take 1 of 3 different refreshers which from memory were carb counting, exercise and sick days. I had to decline as the times weren't suitable but if they are taking time to go over specifics instead of a general overview of everything then I think that's beneficial.

Don't agree novorapidboi.
We are far too complex organisms and need long term data to assess long term change - Years not months.
Thanks for your positive comment Simon.

I would expect not that many folk to use the facility, in context with the number of graduates that exist that is............

but a few numbers and comments wont take up that much space on the server..........

Realistically though, we should only be concerned with the last 3-4 months, no?

The stomach is the easiest spot when walking about, and the least embarrassing/most convenient for most.........

I personally would just leave the injection until my next meal time, which is probably bad, especially if its a few hours away, but that's me......
