I believe mine lasted a few years, however I have no details as I was diagnosed at the age of 10....33 years ago, however I found this short comment on a website I often use. |

Hi Matt, I have been type 1 for two years on the 1st of Feb this year and did my DAFNE course on March last year which was really helpful but a little of it was not completely relevant since I was in my honeymoon phase. |

Most type 1 diabetics initially have some natural insulin production left as the remaining islets of Langerhans cells in your pancreas continue working...but as time goes on these can stop producing too and we become totally dependant on injected insulin. |
