Topic: Site Development / Course Handbook Hi,Sorry no we are not allowed to provide copies of the handbook as part of our agreement with the DAFNE Programme Team, we can only provide access to a copy that cannot be downloaded or printed. Can you check in firefox under the site data again, when you filter to dafneonline.co.uk , you should have 4 cookies and mine has 4.6Kb of storage. When I clear the data, I always save and then restart the browser to ensure it has nothing still hanging around. I then open the handbook and it works everytime. Regards MarkE |

Topic: General Discussion / Insulin storage I understand that unopened insulin should be stored at a temperature of between 2-8 degrees, however, I find that fridge temperatures tend to vary, especially depending upon where you place the insulin in the fridgeI just wondered how resilient insulin was to changes in temperatures especially when travelling abroad and what other people's experiences were with storing insulin Thank you in anticipation |

Topic: Site Development / Course Handbook Hi,Can you confirm the browser you are using on what device and what OS version you have. It's hard to test every combination of browser/device/OS but we can try if we know what they are. It maybe that there is another fix for your particular combination. |

Topic: General Discussion / Apple software updates Many thanks marke, it's a pity we can't make representations to Libre/Dexcom to speed up the process. I spoke to apple about this but very non committal. Everyone wants to cover their back |

Topic: Site Development / Course Handbook Hi,Sorry for the delayed reply. Its an issue with the program we used to display the handbook which is from Adobe. You should be able to fix it on a browser by going into its settings and deleting the cached data for our site. In Firefox go to the 3 bars in the top right and select 'settings' . Then 'Privacy & Security' , followed 'Manage Data' in the 'Cookies and Site Data section. In the search box at the top enter 'dafneonline' , the list below will change to just our site. Select the line and then click 'remove selected' then 'save data'. Now then you try to display it , it will hopefully work. If not refresh the page again. In Edge go to the 3 dots in the top right and select 'settings' . Then 'Cookies and Site Permissions', followed by 'Manage and Cookies and Site Data' . Next select 'See all cookies and site data' and in the search box at the top enter 'dafneonline' , the list below will change to just our site. Now click on 'Remove all shown'. In the pop-up window that appears select 'clear'. Now then you try to display it , it will hopefully work. If not refresh the page again. Chrome will be similar to Edge. |

Topic: General Discussion / Apple software updates Hi,It's not just Libre I'm afraid, Dexcom take just as long. The biggest issue is they are medial devices which have to be 'certified'. It's not like ordinary software that if it goes wrong it doesn't matter, you can make serious decisions based on its output. Therefore they have to do a lot more testing everytime the OS is updated. That said, they get the new releases in advance so you would hope they have more time to test. However I'm not sure how long the MHRA in the UK and other bodies in other countries take to approve the new versions of the apps. |

Topic: General Discussion / Apple software updates Do folks agree that the time taken for Libre to catch up with apple software updates can lead to security compromises on your phone if you put off updating the software until Libre have posted their approval for that particular update? Also, why does it take so long for Libre to catch up with apple software updates? |

Topic: Site Development / Course Handbook
I'm in the UK, and when I take the route you took to open the DAFNE and 5X1 Course Handbook it opens for me. However, being a 272 page pdf document it does take a while to download, so it may be your internet connection letting you down. I hope this helps. |

Topic: Site Development / Course Handbook As a graduate, you should be able to access the DAFNE Course Handbook under the DAFNE Tools drop down menu above.I can access it, but I'm aware that the UK and Australian handbooks differ, so I can't say with certainty that you would be able to see the UK one. Perhaps someone else who is a UK graduate can confirm that it is still available |

Topic: Questions for HCPs / Snack Question At the end of the day, the DAFNE rules, aren't rules as such, but guidelines. Everyone's body responds differently, so if one of the rules isn't working for you, then do feel free to make the necessary changes to accommodate what you observe. Some people are super-sensitive to even small amounts of carbs, while others aren't. That can vary even in the same person depending on time of day, season, activity levels, sleep levels, menstrual cycle, whether the body is fighting an infection etc.On my DAFNE course, I was told that my breakfast bolus was too low, and to increase it. That quickly proved to be wrong when I ended up having a hypo lasting over an hour with many, many carbs consumed during that period :-) At the end of the day, it is trial and error, so use the rules as a basis and deviate from them where necessary |

Topic: Carbohydrate Counting / Hypo's in the morning Hi,Losts of questions there ![]() Overnight drops, this could be a couple fo things. You don't say when you last did a QA, but remember that the profile of most insulins is they last for around 5 hours. This is not an exact figure , the insulin might not last that long or might last longer. If you have given too much insulin , the remaining insulin can cause you to drop. If thats not the case and you don't do any QA from early evening around 6pm, then its more likely that your background insulin is too high. If its right you should stay around level overnight if you don't inject any QA. This also depends on how you do BI, it could be a once a day, a twice a day and again it varies from person to person. You might need to speak to your Diabetes Support Team or consultant. It's the same answer for the post meal drop, it could be either of the above. Also exercise WILL cause a drop if you still have 'extra' insulin in your system. The answer to bruising is you can't avoid it. You are hitting small capilaries in the outer layers of your skin. Its random if you hit one or not. In terms of lipohyopertrophy, again you can't really tell, you need to see a diabetes nurse. I had it and had no idea, everything looked completely normal to me. However the DSN took one look at it and said 'oh, you have a lot of Lipo's' ![]() Regards MarkE |

Topic: Carbohydrate Counting / Hypo's in the morning Wondering why you can go to bed with a BG of 11 and still get the alarm go off early in the morning? Also, in the morning, if levels are ok after a couple of hours from eating, you get a dramatic drop in levels necessitating taking carbs on board Finally, how do you avoid bruising your skin when injecting? Additionally, how do you know if you have lipohyopertrophy? |

Topic: DAFNE Online Mobile / iPhone software updates Is it ok to update software even if Abbott/Freestyle does not show on its web site that a particular update has been approved? There was one alert some months ago from Abbott not to update a particular software update which is understood, however, if they do not put out an alert then you could be compromising your security waiting for them to update their website? |
