Topic: General Discussion / Is anybody there?! Hi All,Just in the last 2 days of a 5 week DAFNE course and it has been brilliant. It would be good to have more activity here so will keep looking and posting as applicable. Just as an aside I am using the App and can not seem to get it to sync between iPhone and iPad. I’m not sure if I am properly signed up yet. Cheers |

Topic: General Discussion / Is anybody there?! Good luck with the pump therapy John H😀. It was a game changer twice for me ! First getting a pump which helped with my overnight control. Second time was getting a Tandem Tslim2, which is closed loop i.e it links to my dexcom. It’s sleep mode means EVERY morning my BG’s are well in range without me doing anything. It’s not completely perfect 24/7 yet but my HB1ac is so good my consultant keeps telling me not to try so hard and I’m not ! It just works for me. Yes you have to get used to an attached device all the time but it’s really not that hard. I wear the pump in a mini camera bag on my belt all day and clipped to my bed clothes at night. I would 100% recommend it 😁 |

Topic: General Discussion / Is anybody there?! Hi John,Thanks for the reply. It’s good to hear you are doing well. I’m interested to hear how the move to a pump has been a game changer for you? It’s something I have always been reluctant to try. I’ve never liked the idea of having something permanently attached to me. Getting used to a CGM sensor was a big step for me! I’m doing pretty well with traditional injections, but I’m sure the day will come where a pump is the better option. Wishing you all the best. Chris |

Topic: General Discussion / Is anybody there?! Hi Chris, I would agree that the site seems to lack any serious activity. I became a Dafne graduate back in 2011 during which time I was able to access a huge amount of information that seemed to be quite secret, and the centre that I went to was led by a true professional who was so knowledgeable and approachable - unfortunately she no longer has a part within the scene that I can find. I imagine that she has retired - and the centre has to try and compensate for this. I was very unwell at the time of the course, but they helped me out so much and the benefits have helped me get on with it with new ways to live.I wish you the best and maybe we chat here in the future. I have this week just started pump therapy - a game changer so far ! Kind Regards, John. |

You’re right. The hypo alarm is essential, especially for overnight. I will be fitting my CGM sensor again today. Been enjoying life without it, and BG has been very stable. But finger pricks are a pain, so it’s time to change back. Hopefully maintaining the routine and discipline I’ve re established by going back to basics for a bit! |

Topic: General Discussion / Faulty Libre 2 Plus Sensors Hi,Oh yes, I can over correct as well ! I suspect a lot of people do. It's a difficult balance between too much knowledge and too little. Like most people the CGM alarms can drive me nuts sometimes, repeatedly buzzing for a low or a high, however the devices would not be certified by the MHRA unless they did this. The logic being better to annoy us than let us have a Hypo |

Topic: General Discussion / Faulty Libre 2 Plus Sensors Thanks for your reply MarkeI’m sure there is no perfect system. To be honest, I’m quite enjoying some time just doing old school blood testing. New sensors arrived this week, and I haven’t fitted one yet. Sometimes I take a break from CGM. It helps to reset me, and get me back into a better basic routine following the DAFNE principles. And my control always improves. I have a tendency to fall under a false illusion of control with CGM. I can check my blood glucose a bit obsessively and sometimes over correct, and then pay the price for it! I think CGM is a wonderful thing, but I have to be careful I don’t let it affect my habits and behaviours. |

Topic: General Discussion / Faulty Libre 2 Plus Sensors Hi,I use Dexcom myself and there are always similiar stories I read about failures. Unfortunately I don't think there is a perfect system available and all the CGM's have occasional problems. I had a similiar problem with me Dexcom G6 recently which I ended up by solving in the short term by going back to wearing the sensor on my arm rather than my stomach. I had been using my stomach for the last 2 years because I kept koncking the sensor off my arm |

Topic: General Discussion / Is anybody there?! Hi Chris,Yes things are pretty quiet I'm afraid. We still keep the site going for people to use or app or to access the online hadbooks, however not many people seem to use the forums now. Its hard to compete with Social Media and other dedicated forum sites. I haven't checked the forums myself in a week or so as I am trying to get an Android version of our app tested and released.... |

Topic: General Discussion / Faulty Libre 2 Plus Sensors Hi all,I put on a new sensor yesterday (completely correctly). It failed straight away. Replaced it with a second one, which started registering very low blood glucose levels. It said my BG was 2.9 when in reality it was 6.8. This went on for hours. I ended up closing the app last night to avoid the alarms going off overnight. Luckily I still have testing strips on prescription and a monitor. I have reported this to Abbott. They are sending me two replacement sensors. I’m sharing this so other people are aware there may be a faulty batch and to be careful. Cheers, Chris |

Topic: General Discussion / Is anybody there?! Hi. My name is Chris. I’ve just joined DAFNE online.Unless I’m looking at this wrong, I can’t see any recent discussions on this forum? If that’s the case, what a shame! I was hoping to connect with and learn from other Type 1 Diabetics. I also think I could help others with my own experiences etc. Hopefully there are others out there willing to chat |

Topic: General Discussion / Taking extra insulin during a meal Thanks for taking the trouble to reply Dyl, however, whilst I agree this is a DAFNE principle, I seem to recall that my Consultant gave me this advice but on reflection I am not so sure |

Topic: General Discussion / Taking extra insulin during a meal I don't know about other people but for me a spike after food is normal even with the right amount of insulin. I'd not look to correct until at least 4 hours after eating just in case the correction sent me low.I'm on Novorapid in case that's relevant! |

Topic: General Discussion / Taking extra insulin during a meal If after say an hour or so into your meal it looks like you might have miscalculated and you are going high, how do decide on topping up to avoid stacking? I believe you have up to 2 hours into your meal when you can add some compensating insulin? |

Topic: General Discussion / Apple software updates Hi,Sorry what I mean was type something like 'libre 3 ios 18.7.1' into a search engine ( can be good or any other search engine) and read through the results. Like all search results some are positive , some are negative and some don't apply. It just gives you a feel as to if you are likely to experience issues. Obviously you need to ensure you enter the correct Libre you have in the search, also make sure you don't have a libre App update waiting to be installed. I tend to use https://www.reddit.com/ for a lot of my info. They have forums for pretty much everything and have various Libre forums which might give you answers. The general opinion on the Dexcom forums is iOS updates for minor versions i.e 18.7 to 18.7.1 are always ok to update, its iOS 18 to ios 26 that are much more risky. That said various people on google say they are running iOS 26.0.1 with the Libre 3 app ok. I haven't updated my phonme to iOS 26 yet though |

Topic: General Discussion / Apple software updates It's not just you ! the Reddit forums are full of people moaning about Abbott and Dexcom not updating their software inline with operating system updates. The best option is to keep googling for your Libre version and the iOS version and see if other people have updated to the iOS with no problems. This is what I do, I always wait a few weeks after I find people posting one way or the other to see if many have problems. If everyone seems to be fairly ok after updating I update.I at least have a fallback now as my pump also links to my CGM and pumps are updated once every few years if you are lucky so if I did update my phone and the app stopped working, I still have the pump giving me readings and warnings.... |

Topic: General Discussion / Apple software updates I am beginning to think it's just me, however, Abbot have at long last just announced an update to 18.5 but I can only download 18.7.1 or 26! So it appears that once Abbot have got around to updating apple have moved on so you can't go back and sync with the latest Abbot update!Sorry if I am making a meal out of this but surely this must affect many others? |

Topic: DAFNE Online Mobile / iPhone software updates Hi,Yes there are lots of people in the same position and its not going to get better any time soon :-( The issue is all CGM apps have to be verified as medical devices by Medical Regulatory authorities. Back in the day medical devices were self contained, I had an original Freestyle Libre and that came with a 'reader' device. Dexcom still sell a 'reader' as well as providing the app. The readers never get updated and so are only verified once. Phones on the other hand are constantly updated and although the apps are not changed the authorities insist that because the underlying OS has changed the whole verification process has to be done again. Whilst you can sort of see their logic, its based on a different world and doesn't reflect current reality, however its very unlikely that they will change their approach anytime in the near future. |

I have been waiting to update my iPhone software but Abbot have been on 18.3.2 for months for Libre 2 Plus. There must be many others in this position? |
