Topic: Site Development / Problems with Mozilla Firefox Hi Simon,Thanks for your reply. I had alrerady tried most of what was suggested on the link you gave me, clearing cache, removing cookies etc. I now have it mostly fixed by using ctrl +F5. It still gives the error connection was reset but after ctrl+F5 the page loads okay. A bit annoying having to ctrl+F5 all the time but at least it works. Regards Derek |

Topic: Site Development / Problems with Mozilla Firefox Hi Derek,I've had a look at our log files and it does seem like your connection is being interrupted - it's not storing the fact that you're logged in properly on your browser. Can you try doing the steps in this page to see if that helps? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1024256 |

Topic: General Discussion / Insulin Holdalls I use a rigid food box with snap-on top, it holds enough for a day out. If away, I use another for extra days supplies. It doesn't have compartments or insulation (not a big problem in NE Scotland) but it all fits without too much movement, as pens go diagonal. Whether anything of this exact size is still on sale I don't know - I haven't seen one for some time. |

Topic: General Discussion / Insulin Holdalls Just another thought. My grandchildren each have a cold pack lunch box (we all live in Queensland...where it gets fairly hot). I know my D-i-L purchased the ones the boys have online. Some pockets but overall dimensions: 20x15x8 cm. Some have a compartment for a freezer brick. HelenTry: haggusandstookles.com.au On this site they are called Fridge to Go Small Lunch Cooler Bags (cost $AUD 30) |

Topic: General Discussion / Insulin Holdalls I always found that Camera bags were the best...solid and with pockets but with the demise of "cameras" they are now relatively scarce. Good luck. Helen |

Topic: Site Development / Problems with Mozilla Firefox This is the message I get whenn ading a diary entry"The connection was reset The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web." There's a button to try again and then a resend button pops up, press that and it goes back to the above message. This is only in the diary. I like Firefox for the add ons, password remember, autofill forms etc. I'll go and download maxthon and give that a bash. Thanks for your reply Derek |

Topic: Site Development / Problems with Mozilla Firefox I updated to Firefox 40.0.3 on 28th Sep, before I had the Argos site problems. Since my last post, Argos has been fine, I've tried it most days, and no problems on other sites.I also tried the maxthon nitro browser some time ago - may be worth a try (I am not a great fan of IE either), and there are other browsers around, need to try them to find one that suits you. |

Topic: General Discussion / Low Carb I don't think there is a 'normal', Phil. We each react in different ways. Now, thanks to LCHF and DAFNE, I rarely need insulin at all, but have the knowledge and pens to hand in case I have a meal in excess of 3 CPs, then can calculate what 'my' body requires by way of additional insulin. When I think of how ill I was 10 months ago, I count myself very lucky to still be typing this. |

Topic: General Discussion / New NICE Guidelines for Type 1 diabetes in adults: diagnosis and management On August 28th NICE published the updates guidelines for the diagnosis and management of Type 1 in Adults. The key priorities are identified as:Education and information Offer all adults with type 1 diabetes a structured education programme of proven benefit, for example the DAFNE (dose-adjustment for normal eating) programme. Offer this programme 6–12 months after diagnosis. [new 2015] Blood glucose management Support adults with type 1 diabetes to aim for a target HbA1c level of 48 mmol/mol (6.5%) or lower, to minimise the risk of long‑term vascular complications. [new 2015] Agree an individualised HbA1c target with each adult with type 1 diabetes, taking into account factors such as the person's daily activities, aspirations, likelihood of complications, comorbidities, occupation and history of hypoglycaemia. [new 2015] Support adults with type 1 diabetes to test at least 4 times a day, and up to 10 times a day if any of the following apply:
the frequency of hypoglycaemic episodes increases there is a legal requirement to do so (such as before driving, in line with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency [DVLA] At a glance guide to the current medical standards of fitness to drive) during periods of illness before, during and after sport when planning pregnancy, during pregnancy and while breastfeeding (see the NICE guideline on diabetes in pregnancy) if there is a need to know blood glucose levels more than 4 times a day for other reasons (for example, impaired awareness of hypoglycaemia, high‑risk activities). [new 2015] Advise adults with type 1 diabetes to aim for:
a plasma glucose level of 4–7 mmol/litre before meals at other times of the day. [new 2015] Insulin therapy Offer multiple daily injection basal–bolus insulin regimens, rather than twice-daily mixed insulin regimens, as the insulin injection regimen of choice for all adults with type 1 diabetes.Provide the person with guidance on using multiple daily injection basal–bolus insulin regimens. [new 2015] Awareness and management of hypoglycaemia Assess awareness of hypoglycaemia in adults with type 1 diabetes at each annual review. [new 2015] Care of adults with type 1 diabetes in hospital Enable adults with type 1 diabetes who are hospital inpatients to self‑administer subcutaneous insulin if they are willing and able and it is safe to do so. [new 2015] Full details can be found here: NICE Guidelines A few topics for discussing with the team at my DAFNE centre on the next visit I think. |

Topic: General Discussion / Uploading DANE data The entries are automatically uploaded to the server (as long as there is a 3D connection) or (on Android at least) you can request that any missing items are uploaded. If I remember what Simon said correctly, I think the iPhone app automatically loads any missing (or updated?) entries. With the data on the server you can then access it through the DAFNE Tools option above (providing you're signed in). This option allows you to download the data in a number of formats to the device on which you make the request. You can also choose the period to be downloaded. If you're only using it to view then pdf will probably be best. If you want to do any further analysis then use .csv and load into Excel. |

Topic: General Discussion / Bruising on injection sites I was put onto 4mm needles (down from 8 then 6) because at that time I had almost no fat, BMI was about 16, 4mm reduced bruising (which wasn't bad at the time). Don't know if that's the smallest needle.Would a pump be suitable for you? Might be worth discussing/review the needles/pumps/injection technique issue with your DSN ![]() |
