I dont pump but may need to in the future......the stories I have heard are good, much tighter control, as close to normal as possible...............obvious problems can come with them like leaks, batteries and other similar problems, but if you have been offered one, take it.........

Hi Simon

Also - if you edit and delete the title (or try to) View diary summary - it crashes

Jennifer, I've never been attracted to them personally, but know of three of my fellow DAFNE graduates (we still meet socially) who rave about them. On that basis alone I would recommend them.

Go for it gal . . .

Hi Jennifer. I was always put off them because of the thought of sleeping with it attached but I've been offered one now and I'm looking forward to getting it going. My BSGs seem to bounce about whenever they feel like it and hopefully the pump should help me get a bit more stable
I'll let you know as soon as I get used to it if its for me or not!

Excellent work simon. Really nicely incorporated tweaks and mods there. The keypad entry of BG and insulin doses is great. I think a new bug has appeared on the entry type list though; it won't let you scroll down without flicking back and so the lower entries are inaccessible (such as correctional). The predicting time of day feature is nice.
Thanks again
Jez

Topic: Questions for HCPs / High bgl in the morning.

Hi
I've been having high bgl readings every morning and am almost sure its not the Dawn Phanonomom, I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what else it could possibly be because every other bgl is perfectly in target including bedtime. I've tried increasing Levemir at night but end up with low sugars. I'm stuck.
Paula.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!
Whats' the view on pumps then? I've always said 'no' as I felt it might cramp my style - I've since realised I have no style, but seriously, is the vibe these days a positive one and do they work?

Topic: Site Development / DAFNE Online iPhone application - help with content/design needed

Hi All, the latest update (DAFNE Online 1.1) is now on the app store - with the following updates:
  • Modified BG, QA, CP entry to use custom keyboards for ease of use.
  • Summary view for Blood Glucose Diary, showing: 1. BG averages 2. Total Daily Dose (TDD) averages 3. Number of corrective doses at mealtimes
  • Diary Entry Types now ordered by time of day rather than alphabetically
  • App now guesses Diary Entry Type depending on time of day.
  • Fixed bug where the diary view wouldn't refresh if app left open overnight
  • Changed Target Min BG for 'Before Driving' to 5 as per DAFNE Principles

As always, let us know if you find any problems with the app, and rate it on the app store if you like it!

Simon

yes, we hope to do an android version. However how soon it will be available depends on how quickly I learn how to do it and then implement it. Hopefully this will be in the not too distant future, but I can't make any guarantees exactly when.

Welcome Jennifer,

I work in Oakham and have been type 1 for 58 years. so, if you need a chat or advice, I'm close to hand.

I was the same when I was younger and my wife tells me I haven't changed much, but I like to think I know what I'm doing now. My HbA1C is certainly dropping steadily, so I must be doing something right.

Welcome Jennifer...............

I have been diabetic for 11 years and for about 7 of those years didnt really control it effectively, not that i didnt want to, I didnt know how to....

DAFNE changed that for me, at least my attitude anyway, I test all the time and follow the principals religously..........I have dawn phenomonon though and its really starting to annoy me..........a pump may be the only other option.....

Anyway, life story over...............welcome again.......hope to see you around on a regular basis........

Hello fellow diabetics. I completed the DAFNE course in Rutland in October 2009, but have only just signed up to this site. I have been type 1 diabetic since 1992, which was diagnosed in my early twenties totally out of the blue - to this day I still feel that if I hadnt had my urine tested I wouldnt be diabetic today!

I am a very negative diabetic and so far, reading posts here, already feel more positive.

I continue to struggle with my control and my weight and with a young family am now feeling that I need to take more control of my life. I'm using the iPhone App to monitor my suagrs and just want to join this community of fellow diabetics to share my thoughts, worries and successes - hopefully!

Look forward to joining the forums!

Jennifer

Topic: DUAG Committee / Welcome and Thank You

Hi Folks,

I wanted to start this facility with a big thank you to Mark and Simon for providing this feature so quickly after our meeting on Friday and here we are on the following Monday with it up and running.

I do hope it will be used as intended and we each use it to maximum extent. Indeed it would be a good idea if each one of you gave an introductory message just to confirm we have full coverage.

From the meeting there is much to do and I hope our 'enforcer' will likewise use this medium to ensure we keep moving forward.

Regards,

Brian

PS Now off on leave for 2 weeks so I will be out of contact!!!
