Do you have wi-fi capabilities on your phone? If so could you try posting BG results on that, it will rule out any low signal issues.

Looking at the URL above it seems to be correctly formed - I'll check that the URL is working properly.

Yes the option to see your inbox messages should become available on the phone - it's on our to-do list which is quite big at the moment, and unfortunately it's a busy time of year in the day job (on a train as we speak, or write) but I hope to get some stuff done over Christmas.

Just had a thought - does that error message appear even though the test post was saved correctly?

Hi JWo,

This is a strange one I'm afraid. I found the Requests in our log files and it seems like they were made in quick succession, with a 2 second interval in between each, which say to me your device isn't responding correctly to what the site sends back to it. Has this happened every time you've used the mobile site?

Also - can you try replying to this forum post on your phone? Just to see if your phone does the same thing on that. Don't worry about doing multiple posts - I can delete them if that happens.

Has anybody else on the forums had this behaviour?

Hi JWo, I had a look and tested it with my phone and everything seemed OK. Can you give it another go? Do you get many results with exactly the same time? (This shouldn't happen as you can only create one per individual minute of the day). If you could also let me know around which time you did the test I'll take a look at the logs.

Topic: General Discussion / Forums Have Gone Quiet

We presented DAFNE Online at the DAFNE Collaborative earlier this year - told them all about it and the benefits, and there were about 120 DAFNE Educators/Doctors/Dieticians there. There was really positive feedback on the day, and we even got some more HCPs signed up too.

The problem is that they are stretched to the maximum so I should imagine that it's pretty difficult for them to log on to the site. We did try and make it easier for them by having a dedicated forum for HCP questions, so they can direct their viewing there.

If your DAFNE Educator's aren't signed up to the site, get them in touch with us ([email protected]) and we can get them signed up as HCP's.

Also if you think of any other ways to help them get more involved, let us know.

I agree - as well as being diabetic we're all people too with interests above and beyond controlling our blood sugar levels so feel free to discuss anything! And as always, ask us if you want more features on the site. Over the next few months we'll be upgrading our servers, as well as improving the graphic design of the site (though Mark and I are Computer Programmers, and as such have little to no artistic flair, so any help would be appreciated!).

No JWo I just never have ketostix to hand and my meter doesn't do ketones Smile

(does it test your blood for them at the same time as glucose? pretty cool if so). I'm still not clear if a numeric field is the right way to go - if you used ketostix would you put the mg/dl value in? I'm only asking as it's easier to decide on this up front than change our database later.

Perhaps it would be best to allow you guys to add ketones as free text (like the comments field), although this may prove difficult to make a chart of, if you wanted that. What do you all think?

I rarely test myself for ketones so will take your guidance on what is best.

Edit: mg/dl measures the same thing as mmol/l, but with a different scale - the amount of one substance in another. In this case I think it is mg of Ketones per dL (deciLitre?) of urine

We've been updating the site to new software recently, getting to the end of that now so will look to add the ketones value to the diary and iPhone app. How is the best way to record these? I was thinking a drop down list with the options (-, +, ++, +++, ++++) - would this be OK or does anybody record them differenty?

Yep - looking to add ketones + other health measures to the online diary first - need to make sure this supports the measures first then we can get them in the iPhone app.

I've modified the keyboard for dosage/bg entry to counter the problems you've all mentioned, this should be hitting the app store very soon!

If you've had any problems accessing the site over the past few days. We are currently working with our web hosting provider to upgrade to the latest version of the language we use to program the site in. It's a learning process for both us and the provider, and as Mark and I have limited time the opportunity to work on this is sporadic.

If the site is down, rest assured it will be back up within a few minutes - so please try again then.

Apologies for the inconvenience this may cause - this will be fixed shortly and normal service will resume!

Thanks for your feedback on the app, just so you know there is a dedicated thread on the Site Development forum for requesting new features in the iPhone app.

On the subject of sick day rules, we are unfortunately allowed to publish any DAFNE-specific info in the app, as on the app store it is accessible to people who haven't taken the course yet. This will stop us from publishing the rules in the app - though if you are a verified DAFNE Graduate (which you aren't yet - did your DAFNE Educator team give you an invitiation flyer?) you can get the handbook on the mobile version of the site which is formatted for display on small screens such as the iPhone.

The app currently shows your recent average TDD's - so what I can do it add percentage calculation to this to help you implement the sick day rules - how does this sound?

Thanks for your feedback guys - remember to rate the app on the store if you've not yet done so. In the next update I'll fix the BG/QA/CP entry to make it harder to switch tabs.

Guy, re your comments:

1. Do you mean whole diary entries aren't getting synced up? Or is it specific fields (i.e. Injection sites, Comments etc).
2. Yep, will do.
3. Sounds like a good idea, I'll look to put that one in too.

Earlier today somebody registered on the site and proceeded to write extremely abusive messages on the forums. This was a real person, and not a result of a breach of security in DAFNE Online. Unfortunately it is difficult to stop these, as anybody is free to register on the site.

That said, abuse of any nature on the forums or message threads is not tolerated and their user accounts were deleted straight away.

The computer that was used to post these messages has been identified using their unique Internet Address (IP) and we are currently following this up.

If you do see any abusive messages on the forums, please report them to us straight away by emailing [email protected].

I think an update to the site we rolled out recently may have restricted the connections from the app. We've got rid of this update, so try again and let me know if your connection problems persist.

Also - for the Fasting entry, use Other for now and we'll look to add Fasting as an option in the future.

Hi all,

We've just released a bug fix version (1.2.1) and I'd advise you download it from the app store ASAP. This fixes a problem where the app wasn't uploading your injection site data to the DAFNE Online site diary properly.

In the next day or so I'll release a new graph on the site which shows your injection site usage in a pie chart. Any entries you have input into the app so far won't have their injection site info synchronized to the site, so I urge you to update the app now. Apologies for this, I know it may be frustrating.

In other news, version 1.3 - out in the next few weeks will contain the long-awaited Carbohydrate Portion list natively in the app.

Make sure you are pressing the 'Done' button on the keyboard before pressing 'Done' in the top right hand corner of the screen. This should save your changes properly.

Caroline, your daughter is able to register on this site even though she's not a DAFNE Graduate - she just won't be able to see the handbook, but will be able to access the diary, forums etc. Would using the site's diary help her?
