Topic: General Discussion / poll We've just modified the poll to allow you to vote for the original one being kept. Also, you don't have to use all four ranks now, so if you only had 2 favourites you could use ranks 1 and 2 (you can't have duplicates though).Hope this helps! |

Topic: General Discussion / DAFNE strapline poll Hi Lizzie, currently not as we wanted to avoid people entering all 1's for the rankings so that the 1-4 ranking system was enforced and we got meaningful results. If you really don't want to vote we'll add a row to the results we send to DAFNE Central stating that you would like to keep the original. |

Topic: Carbohydrate Counting / Pizza Being a pizza lover myself I've already had a look on the Domino's site for CP info and it's got it... Go to http://www.takeafreshlook.co.uk/foodguide.htm for PDF versions of Nutrition Info for all of their pizzas and sides. Also remember you can add CP values to our listing on the site, so if you get it nailed then feel free to add the info there too. |

Topic: General Discussion / DAFNE strapline poll We're up to 124 now, good work guys! Keep them coming...Looking at the results some others have mentioned that they prefer the old one so perhaps you could add that to the 'other suggestion' in your vote (just a suggestion!) ;) |

Topic: Site Development / Deleting Multiple Diary Entries We've added support for deleting diary entries now. You will see a check box next to each of your entries in your diary - check this and click the button below the diary and the selected entries will be deleted.Re the Consistency report - a great idea but pretty complex so will probably take some time - we will work on it though! Topic: General Discussion / A Very Merry Christmas to all Hi Everyone,Just a quick message to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, and all the best for the year ahead. It's a difficult time of year for us diabetics, what with the constant temptation of food around every corner (I am most looking forward to a large Christmas dinner with plenty of meat, stuffing and potatoes - maybe some veg as well, with a healthy dose of Christmas Pudding after of course). Thankfully DAFNE gives us the flexibility to eat a bit more and still maintain good blood glucose control via adjusting our insulin dosage. Remember also to take care of yourself if you are ill - at this time of year it seems everyone falls victim to at least the festive sniffles (I can feel them coming on now). If you need to remind yourself of the DAFNE step-wise dose adjustment, or sick day rules you can do so by using the online handbook (see DAFNE Tools to the right once logged in). Now... as well as Christmas we're also reaching another milestone - DAFNE Online will be a year old on the 29th December! That's right, we launched the site nearly a whole year ago, and it had come on leaps and bounds since we did so. Some statistics for you: Since we launched the site... Over 2,120 users have signed up. These users have created 153 discussion topics With 951 posts 151 private messages have been sent And the big one... over 40,000 (yes - forty thousand) blood glucose diary entries have been saved. These statistics are fantastic - it really shows that we have built up a community around DAFNE. This is in no small part thanks to you - our users. Without you we wouldn't have a site, so give yourselves a pat on the back, you deserve it. So as we look towards 2010 and DAFNE Online's second year, we will be constantly updating and improving the site, with things that make managing your diabetes easier. If there are features or improvements you'd like to see on the site - please do let us know. You can do so on the Site Development Forum, or by clicking the Contact DAFNE Online link at the bottom of every page. Again - on behalf of Mark and myself - a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all. We'll see you in 2010. Simon |

Topic: Questions for HCPs / BG Diary at Clinic Hi all,We've just released an update to the diary summary - moving it to John's 'one line' model above. We've also added the total amount of QA insulin taken as corrective for High BG (or QC for short). Still to do: The separate ratio and comments table. Simon |

Topic: Questions for HCPs / BG Diary at Clinic Thanks for your comments Karen and John. I'll feed your requirements into the next version of the summary.John - one thing, you can specify your own 'low' and 'high' threshold values via the text boxes at the top of the summary - is this what you mean? Also - with regard to the ratios, would it be OK to report on the most commonly used ratio for each time of day, rather than a calculated average? This would be easier to add I think. Cheers, Simon |

Topic: Questions for HCPs / BG Diary at Clinic Hi Everyone,We've just updated the site with a summary view for the diary - see the link at the top of your Blood Glucose diary view (near links to help and add multiple). It's a first pass, so the current information displays: BG Averages at different times of day Average insulin dosage per day How many times your BG has been above/below target thresholds. How many entries make up the current summary Currently still to do: Summarizing comments, and ratios - these are a little trickier, as the ratios will require some calculation, and the comments may take up a lot of space, we need to work on the best way to display them. Also, the insulin dosage averages do not take into account any corrections - only numbers before any '+' or '-' characters. I wasn't sure whether people wanted to take corrections in to account or not, your feedback would be appreciated on this. Finally I thought it would be nice if you could view the detailed diary view for a summary by clicking on the summary's date - so you can! As always, let us know what you think. Thanks, Simon |

Topic: Site Development / Question: Sharing the online diary Hi Jennifer,The gobbledygook you mention is XML - a way of exporting data for use in another system, for example Microsoft Excel. I've just had a look and it doesn't seem any different to normal. It should look like this: <diary_entries> − <head> <title>Blood Glucose diary for Simon</title> <start_date>2008-11-10</start_date> <end_date>2009-11-20</end_date> </head> − <diary_entry> <id/> <entry_time>2009-02-20 09:00:00 UTC</entry_time> <blood_glucose>6.5</blood_glucose> <carbohydrate_portions>8</carbohydrate_portions> <quick_insulin>9</quick_insulin> <background_insulin/> <ratio/> <entry_type>BFAST</entry_type> <target_min_bg>5.5</target_min_bg> <target_max_bg>7.5</target_max_bg> <comments/> </diary_entry> Let me know if it's different for you, and I'll see what we can do to fix it. Topic: General Discussion / recording, meters, software & DAFNE Oh and I forgot to say - unfortunately it couldn't be easily ported between devices, as iPhone uses Objective-C as a programming language, which no other mobile device uses. That said, if there was enough demand for a DAFNE Diary on specific devices then we could get to grips with the technology and then implement it. |

Topic: General Discussion / recording, meters, software & DAFNE I have the UltraSmart too - it does have a lot of cool features but I ended up never using them as the input method was too hard (apart from BG - I just bleed on it for that ;) ) I should be in a position to start doing a DAFNE Diary app over the Christmas break, all being well. In the meantime though, if anyone wants to start creating one, or knows someone who will then let us all know so we don't duplicate efforts. Also, to get it specced up why not use this post, that way we can get everyone's input into the app? So... Discuss what you want! Simon |

Topic: General Discussion / recording, meters, software & DAFNE With regards to iPhone apps, I think there's one called 'Diabetes Log' or similar. If there isn't I'm currently learning iPhone development so would be happy to attempt creating one. Who knows, in time we could even link it to your DAFNE Online diary... ;)Simon |

Topic: Questions for HCPs / BG Diary at Clinic Hi Guys,This certainly sounds like something that would be useful. Echoing what Stew said, we need to ensure that the data we present isn't too high-level and may disguise/ignore any underlying problems. It would be useful to get some feedback from the DAFNE HCPs on what they think would be valuable in a 1-page summary. We could certainly do something where you had a week-by-week or month-by-month summary - just need to know what goes in there! Cheers, Simon |

Topic: Site Development / Recipes So what are everyone's thoughts on the recipes? Here at the DAFNE Online office (currently on a train from Glasgow to Liverpool) we are keen to implement what our users want/need. Is a 'sticky' thread on the forums enough to track recipes, or would you like something more sophisticated that allowed you to enter the info to your database, in a similar fashion to John's form?Either way works for us - we'd just like to know what information you'd like to track/add with your recipes. Topic: Site Development / Online BG Diaries Wow, sounds complicated - but as long as it works for you that's all that matters! Will look into uploading via CSV/XML and post progress here. Are there any features in your current setup that you'd like to see in the DAFNE Online diary? Simon |

Topic: Site Development / Online BG Diaries Hi Alan,Yes the data is stored in an SQL database, and I'm sure we could implement some sort of functionality that could parse an XML file and add the results to your DAFNE Online Diary. I guess I'd have to publish the XML format we needed for you to export from your database (I assume this is Access or similar). One question on this though - would you want the data duplicated in two places? Obviously there's benefits to both - you don't have to be online to access your own database, and its backed up locally for you, however with the DAFNE Online diary, you can access anywhere, and share with other users, etc. Is there functionality you have set up in your local Database that is missing from DAFNE Online which could be useful to other people? If so we'd like to hear about it with a view to adding it to our Diary/Graphs. Thanks, Simon |
