Topic: General Discussion / infusion set issues hmm no I would never do that , I would say you risk damaging the pump doing that potentially. The pump pushes up against the bottom of the reservoir using a rotating screw mechanism. When you change the reservoir it pushes up to the bottom and senses it and stops pushing. If you remove it and don't suspend the pump it will keep pushing up and when you replace the reservoir its going to apply more pressure than normal to lock the reservoir back in place. I guess it depends on how long its removed. Me I just detach the infusion set like I would when I have a shower and let it leak a bit while its off.I understand completely the lypo's issue ( or as you call it scar tissue). Problem is I never tend to notice it happening but the DSN does immediately and warns me to rotate sites better ![]() |

Topic: General Discussion / infusion set issues Hi me again...it is the location of the infusion sets. Appears that after a while the sites wear out (even though the endo checked for scar tissue etc) so have now resorted to the outside of my thighs and miraculously have had little (minor) problems with the uptake of the new infusion set. Now a new issue I usually disconnect the pump from the infusion site when I have to hand over the pump for downloading at the doctors. The other day I saw a guy simply disconnect the reservoir from the pump and hand the pump over and then reinserted the reservoir when it was handed back...it would certainly save a bit of processing to get the tubing connected to the infusion set when next I go to the endo! Any comments? |

Topic: General Discussion / DAFNE app for android Hi,You can ask Simon or me :-) Although I have been trying to re-implement the REST API ( just google it to get a basic idea) in the newer Android network stack as the original app was based on the Apache stack that is now depreciated. As you can see Richard is also helping . If you can work together that would be great. I think the key issue is getting the app to use 'HttpURLConnection' the now preferred method of interfacing with web sites to use the REST API . I think Richard is more focused on the UI of the app. MarkE |

Topic: General Discussion / DAFNE app for android Hey richarde500 - we would love some help as the development with the Android app has stalled. We all do this in our spare time so we mainly focus on the iOS app and the website itself. Should I drop you an email to get things going? |

Topic: General Discussion / DAFNE app for android Whilst I was doing the second year of my Foundation Degree in Applied Business Computing [2017/2018] and my BSc (Hons) Business Computing top up degree (2018/19), I learnt about Android Development by using Android Studio. I developed 2 applications for Android throughout these two years from scrach. One of the applications which I developed was started on Level 5 (Foundation Degree - Second Year) and was continued to be developed during Level 6 (BSc (Hons) Business Computing). This application was a kind of Blood Glucose and Insulin Intake diary app. The other app which I developed was for a brass band (which was part of my Computing Project, which was the equivalent of the dissertation). I graduated with a 1st overall and I am now looking for employment. If you would like some help with development of a new Android version of the DAFNE app, I am willing to help and give it a go. My strengths are front end development - back end development (like integrating databases into a website/application using SQL etc) and I haven't a clue. If you also want to have a look at the applications which I developed, please dont hesitate to get it touch |

Does this make a difference to the dose? Could it be the needles I use? Would like to know if anyone else has this problem![]() |

Topic: General Discussion / infusion set issues OK me again.Yesterday was a nightmare. All good until about 12:30pm (infusion set had been on for 3 days less about 10 hours). Was going to theatre so decided to leave in place until after theatre. Got to 12.6 a 2:00pm theatre...corrected and down to 8.8 at the end of show. Phone call from son, could I please babysit from 6:15pm. Sure, raced home had a salmon and tomato sandwich on lo-cal bread (25g CHO) + correction. After sandwich changed infusion set. Arrived at son's house at 6:15 still under 10...but 4 hours later (and no food) after stacking corrections reached a peak of 18 (theory NO insulin was getting through). Drove home with plans for an injection. At home pump indicated that the BG was going down so decided to leave it. Went to bed. Woke up with pump alarm. Theoretically no insulin on board but BG falling fast (3 arrows) and approaching low. Took a hand full of jelly beans and lay awake waiting for the fall to finish. About an hour later, the fall had finished and still with no insulin on board I went to sleep. More alarm, more approaching low, pump suspended and a low reading of 3.2. It was now about 6+ hours since last insulin correction so decided I would let the pump do its thing. Woke 2 hours later and BG was 6.3. Medtronic's suggestion change infusion set type...have done that about a month ago. Anyone any ideas? Helen |

Topic: General Discussion / Diabetes essay What information do you need? I have only been diagnosed just under a year and just completed the dafne course. My daughter bought me a book for Xmas about learning to manage T1 diabetes which was very useful |

Topic: Carbohydrate Counting / Spinach soup Most leaf vegetablles have virtually no carbs, so unless you are adding any other ingredients I would think the answer would be pretty much zero. If its shop bought then there should be a nutritional breakdown on the packet somewhere. One clever soul years ago worked out you would need to eat 32 lbs of cabbage to make 1 carb portion, I would think spinach wouold be much the same. |

Topic: Site Development / DAFNE Online App Missing From Android App Store The point of it being on the front page was we do plan to re-do it and get it on there again. Unfortunately we do it in a spare time and although I have the source code for the original app it no longer works with Android which is part of the reason it disappeared from the App Store. Hopefully I will soon get time to learn how to update it to the new standard approach for android apps, I can then get it re-published. I will of course let everyone know once it is re-released. |

Topic: Site Development / Deleting entire BG diary option request Yes, it is a lot of hassle. You're still ticking one entry at a time. As I said, I have years of entries to remove.Personal data reasons mostly. Plus done with waiting for the Android app to be sorted out. I want to keep my account since I still practice DAFNE, but my diary I want wiped please. |
