Topic: General Discussion / morning highs
With low carbs and increased exercise often a bit low now, not too bad about 4.5 to 5.5, used to be a bit on the high side 8 to 10 when dinner was carb loaded. For me I'm not sure its the bedtime BG as in the old days I often went to bed with BG 6 or 7 and woke with 14+. I think for me its the no carbs in the system floating around overnight. |

Topic: General Discussion / morning highs Hi,I am on a bit of a fitness/diet at the moment and used to get this problem, I now have next to no carbs after lunch so my bedtime BG is around 4 or 5 (often need a few carbs to keep me up). Going to bed with this lower BG and no pasta/pizza floating around seems to have done the trick, I am now having to lower my background as I am low in the morning. In the 25 years of Type 1 I have never had low morning BG until now. I know this isn't a life long fix as I am going to want to eat in the evening again at some point, but it proves its the carbs over night that are causing my issue and probably yours. If you find a solution without starving yourself let me know ![]() Phil |

Topic: General Discussion / Dafne Diary - looking for some comments / help I am not qualified to give advice, but I find it useful to enter the total CPs, BI and the ratios in the table part of the diary. This makes it easier to spot trends and then make decisions where needed. I also enter my bedtime BGs and any corrections in the table. I also keep a separate list of meals and my CP estimates which I can refer to before I inject. |

Topic: General Discussion / morning highs No, it's OK all throughout the day... really good, but it's just the waking numbers, I've increased my bi by 2u, and for 3 days now it's still been 10.7 !![]() |

Topic: General Discussion / Result. Did the course about 3 yrs ago. Thought it was brilliant, learnt so much about the condition. Came out of it really hopeful of a better future. Worked tirelessly since, measuring, balancing, adjusting. Unfortunately control is still no better, still up and down readings all over the place, went for MOT yesterday and feel like we have gone backwards.![]() |

Topic: General Discussion / morning highs Hi SusieqI have the same problem. The only way that seems to work for me is to make sure that my meals are at least six hours apart and that if I have a less active day I only have two meals. Do not eat a lot of complex carbs after lunch and keep your portion sizes down. Hope this helps, Moris. |

Topic: General Discussion / morning highs I just wrote a whole umpynine word post here about morning highs and this darn site deleted it while I was posting. grrrrr don't you hate that? lolThe gist of it was that I can't seem to get my morning levels down, tried increasing bi, tried low/no carb suppers, tried 3am testing... if it's normal then....then what? dawn phenomenon - is it that? If so is it always gonna happen?? can't write anymore...it'll probably not post it anyway ![]() |

Topic: General Discussion / Diabetic jokes Hi Alan .. had a peer at wiki and indeed...The standard form of a limerick is a stanza of five lines, with the first, second and fifth usually rhyming with one another and having three feet of three syllables each; and the shorter third and fourth lines also rhyming with each other, but having only two feet of three syllables. The defining "foot" of a limerick's meter is usually the anapaest, (ta-ta-TUM), but limericks can also be considered amphibrachic (ta-TUM-ta)... (and much more). So all forumites now have no excuse.... Cheers, John |

Topic: General Discussion / Diabetic jokes Yes John - Limericks have 5 lines.I have another one ('Oh No!' I hear you groan): A diabetic fell out with his G.P. 'Too many strips you are using' said he The diabetic insisted - 'You're being ham-fisted - Good control means I'll be complications-free'. It doesn't scan properly, but I claim 'poetic licence'. |
