My BGs just go down after an hours swimming. Running...knees are a bit too old for that now...but energetic cycling and my bloods can rocket up - like you.
Would follow Warwick's advice. Strikes me that he is very clued up from lots of experience. But as he said, you will need experiment and find out what works for you personally.
Accurate record keeping is so important though to help you understand what works effectively.

Thanks for that. I'm afraid I hadn't noticed the text there.
Reading the documents provided by the links shows me that I was completely unaware of the guidance pdf. Embarassed

I last reapplied for my licence in 2010 and was not supplied with any guidance notes to use alongside the DIAB1 form.

Wouldn't dream of trusting anyone else to look after my BGs. You must be in personal control of your BGs whilst in hospital.
We unfortunately hear of far too many incidents.
Many medical staff think they know what they are doing....but when you question them, they are readily able to demonstrate their complete lack of understanding of even the basic principles - never mind how to keep you stable.
Never leave control to them.

Personally, I would get some in to go on the shelf. Some pharmacies do not keep them as stock and you may wait a day or so to be able to start checking your Ketone level....and if you feel dog rough...the last thing you need do is go to a pharmacy to collect some.
Shelf life for the Abbot strips is normally over 12 months.
The ones I have in my meter wallet now are dated 05/2014. I have another box at home which I think are 10/2014 but not sure.
Hopefully they run out of date before you need use them!

Would you consider using the online Diary. I thought everyone had access to use the online diary. It would make your posts so much faster as no extra typing involved!
Agree. My DAFNE consultant used to say make BI changes of 20%...so you are sure of the outcome. But agree that steady progress should be the way forward.

Personally an iPad version would be helpful to me as another means of data entry.
Guess plenty of work is involved in the graphical aspect as suppose it would need be stand alone version, specific to apple viewers, to get away from Flash...which the rest of us would like to retain!

I know I only suggested Ctrl/PrtSc as a temporary fix but you can of course use it on an ongoing basis.
Select your graph dates needed and Ctrl/PrtSc with paste into word or any document type
Change graph dates and Ctrl/PrtSc + paste again...to your hearts content...or to your GPs satisfaction.

Do you mean they only ever have regular coke in the chiller cabinet?
Probably means your supermarket has no idea what stock has moved off the chiller cabinet shelf...maybe by the time you get there, whatever limited stock of diet coke has already been taken...or there is less profit margin in diet so they don't put it out??
Keep at them though. Up to them to satisfy your needs.

I have praised them in the past on here as personally I have always found them very helpful and accommodating.
Have to agree with you Anele...the black and white finger lancer supplied is wicked. Still have one with my spare meter which I occasionally use during the night and I hate using it as even on the lowest setting should be renamed the Bengal lancer!

Sorry I was talking about Ketone strips before. They are about Â£32 for 10.
I do not have any problem with my surgery, who now give me 250 strips of normal BG type per prescription.
I sat with the doctor to ensure he matched up my whole prescription to save me time.
As marke mentioned 50 strips were around Â£32 before, but in this competitive world they have probably reduced the price now.

Alan...Need to explain to her that urine test strips give an indication of what was happening 6 to 8 hours ago....not now. My consultant 35 years ago agreed that at the time...the same physical rules applied as long ago, when he used to issue them then...as then - there were no other home sampling methods available.
Times have changed. It is 2013. Yes they are Â£2 a pot because nobody uses them. They are useless to put your current situation right.
Current sample strip at Â£2 a sample...well that's fine seeing as I have used about 4 boxes of 10 strips in the last 4 years...and one of those boxes of 10 ran out of date!

We all need have the attitude to face out our GP over this kind of tosh.
Say that until you sort out my needs....I'm not moving out of your surgery.
We must be prepared to challenge a GP and say that GPs must give back some of the additional fees that they get from the Department of Health, for you as a diabetic, in the prescription needs that you have personally.

Very sensible your DAFNE team as the Freestyle Optium has ability to do Ketones, by prescription available, ketone specific test strips.
