thanks to the individual who posted a message abouit eating popcorn at the cinema.i went to the cinema a few days ago and had a mega box of poopcorn. i asked the girl to wiegh it for me and managed to take the correct amount of insulin to balance what i consumed.i would never have thought of asking to have it wieghed if i hadnt read the previous post. thanks for that.by the way it was a rather large dose of q/a insulin (22units] of which i enjected all at once

cheers

So glad your BG was within range after. I'd be very concerned injecting that amount of QA in one go as I remember from my DAFNE course that they do not recommend injecting more than I think 13 units if I remember correctly . The risk of a severe hypo would definitely put me off. I would probably have split the dose.
Thank goodness you were ok Smile
All the best.

Hope they didn't say a 13u limit Anele46...
as I had 19 at lunch today and 22u with dinner as it all depends upon our individual insulin sensitivity/resistance at different times of the day.

Garry

as far as i can remember from my dafne course they said that any q/a dose of over 15 units taken all together may have a a bit of different effect than a dose of under 15 would have but once again it probably depends on the individual

I remember getting a printed off sheet to take away with the max recommended amounts of QA to inject depending on the ratio you are on and I am sure it was around the 13U - will have a look for it.

Cheers Smile

Hi
Don't know if it was me who posted about the popcorn at the cinema, but glad you enjoyed the popcorn and also hit your target,
Have you tried the MacDonald's my meal option on their web site, it gives the total carbs for any meal you chose,
I had a 20CP meal matched with QA and was in target 4 to 5 hours after, let's hope the pizza restaurant's catch up soon
Makes our lives a lot less stressful knowing what's in a mealVery Happy

Hi, sorry Anele46 I had to delete your post that shows a page of the DAFNE handbook and I would suggest you also remove it from the link you pasted. The course handbook is copyrighted and you cannot post its contents onto the internet, you are breaking the law, You definitely cannot post it on here as we had to sign a legal agreement to host it and that agreement says we cannot make it available to 'general users'
