Thank you marke. Back to normal for me too.

Have not tried to print the graphs before but have just tried Ctrl/PrintScreen with a paste it into Word..and that works fine so may be a fix for now if you need this facility.

Topic: General Discussion / Hi New Here

If you keep thinking that running at 15 is OK - then I'm sorry, you face a dim future.
Are you able to test for ketones? If your current meter does not provide you with this facility, you need look for another that does.
Your lack of food may be part responsible, as others have suggested.

You must put in the time needed for you....to get a grip of your situation.
Please take this reply only in a wholly positive way.

Welcome Smile
It seems from your ratios that you are insulin sensitive. So steady as you go.
Would you be confident enough to share your online Blood Glucose Diary with us?
Between us all we should be able to offer some good support for your situation - but need information to help.

Topic: Site Development / Javascript must be enabled

I am unable to view my BG dairy graphs. This title is supposed to offer explanation. I have installed the latest update 7.21 or whatever it is......and have used the Java site to eliminate any earlier versions...switched off and rebooted...
Reminds me of one of the Engineers at work - who has now retired - every time he had trouble he would phone the computer department and spend goodness knows how much time on the blower - eventually to be told...try switching the computer off and on again.
He waited some three years...but yes his time had come...the heating in the Admin block had failed and the computer department phoned up to complain that they were freezing....and he was responsible for utility services...to be able say to them....have you tried switching it off and on again...it was one of his favourite stories as he had waited so long to get his own back!
So can anyone help? Simon?

Topic: General Discussion / Exercise

Going back...early mornings I could wake with a BG of 13 and think I'll go for a belt around the park on my bike and down to the seafront as quick exercise before insulin and breakfast.. to come back and do my blood and find I was BG 14....what's going on... I've just come back with a good elevated heart rate following exercise and blood has gone up!
Vic explained it best to me though...fight or flight.. as created by aerobic(?) exercise...releases adrenalin - which makes us insulin resistant + releases liver glucose...and bumps our blood up.
So then I would not start exercise without insulin and food first.
Can't offer you any good guidance however......as I'm still learning after 34 years.
Willing to progress and read some of the literature on exercise, that others have faith in and are promoting on here, to see whether it can help me sort out some mysteries of diabetic life for me.

Topic: General Discussion / Exercise

Looked back through old posts and copied content of some old threads: -

.....May I ask - Do you always wash your hands before blood testing?
Most BG kits now use such a small blood sample that any contamination error has a really dramatic effect.
BG 16 to 5.6 in 45 minutes is very unusual.

I say this from experience with a Medisense Abbott Optium Xceed meter which on 5 second Optium Plus test strips uses a tiny blood sample - 0.6 μL.
They did a 3 second strip for a time which used an even smaller blood sample. But not sure whether they are available now.
Anyway I proved contamination error to self by repeated trials of unwashed hands v washed hands - washed immediately after - and saw errors of up to 8 BG. My conclusion was that I had to always accept the need for lack of contamination and to stick with washed hands at testing time.

Another one -
....where he mentions Optium Exceed meter test solutions, as far as I remember!! the acceptable meter result range using the high solution is around 13 to 21 mmol/L so that gives us a good idea of the error bound...which reminds me that I have not checked my meter for some time!
Which reminds me now.... that I have not checked my meter for some time again Embarassed Test solutions at home are probably out of date now.

Topic: Carbohydrate Counting / Carb Counting

Jacobs good. You are right. If it is 15g or more - we normally 'round it up' to 20g CHO or 2 cp. If it is less than 15g - say 14.9g we normally 'round it down' to 10g CHO or 1 cp.

Treat biscuits...much nearer 3. If it is 25g or more - we normally 'round it up' to 30g CHO or 3 cp. If it is less than 25g - say 24.9g we normally 'round it down' to 20g CHO or 2 cp.

Topic: General Discussion / Exercise

Personally speaking it takes me 3 days to see any impact of my Lantus BI dosage. Please take your time, particularly when changing this type of background insulin dose.
I'm insulin resistant and have QA ratios of 2 or 2.5:1...but rarely change more than + or - 2u BI and only when the need for change is firmly established in my mind.
Was your Friday 03/05 11:05 BI a typo?

Hypo rebound numbers seem to be a individual physiology thing, I've had 17s before.

My experiments with my meter results taught me how the numbers generated were hugely affected by hand cleanliness and have in a past thread reported big variations in results pre- and post-washing. Even having damp hands had a big effect.
Meter manufacturers will tell you that their meter is precise......what they mean is that the results have statistical precision, or repeatability to a dope like me. Somewhat different to accurate, which is what we all imagine they mean.

Topic: General Discussion / Dealing with large carb meals

Personally I find it necessary to up my QA:CP ratio when eating more than 10CPs at a meal.
My dinner time 2:1 changes to 2.2:1 for instance.
Generally it seems that the majority of us become more insulin resistant with larger meals.
Pizza has always been a problem for me. Pizza Express.....just adding those words in...sorry Warwick Rolling Eyes
Don't know what it is but even home made pizza with everything diligently weighed out sends my BGs awry.
Have to admit that I would not consider splitting QA doses. I like to keep things simple.......and coping with overlapping QAs would be beyond my ken.

Topic: General Discussion / Ratios - mealtime

We all talk DAFNE ratios. DAFNE uses 10 g carbohydrate as 1 carbohydrate measure and we are all used to talking in 10 g 'lumps' of carbohydrate
So your ratios under DAFNE are:
2:1 - breakfast
1:1 - lunch
1:1 - teatime
You are able to delete unwanted ratios from the drop down boxes and create new ones when using your Online Diary.

Topic: General Discussion / New Blood Test Device

Sounds brilliant. Let's hope it doesn't take years to come to the market.
Would be of particular help for people lacking hypo awareness/symptoms and as JWo said will quickly be adapted by pump manufacturers as the means to close the control loop for pump use.

Topic: General Discussion / Weight training

Don't be surprised Mike87.
Depending on how rigorous your training is you may well find BGs going up initially as we respond to adreniline and other hormones which make us temporarily insulin resistant.
Your liver also may also respond by releasing it's store of glucagen into your bloodstream as a 'Fight-or-Flight' preparation.
So try get as much information on what your BGs do, both before and after exercise and you'll get to know your normal response. Unusual BGs then are much more clear and you can try figure out what made them differ.

Easy to go back and edit an entry say 240213 0900...just hover over the blue time (and it will underline), click it and you can quickly edit that entry. This entry is a correction only with no CP, so QA +4 and leave Ratio blank.
Hope this helps.

Welcome Lisaraby Smile
Not sure what is happening with your diary input but your Ratio (QA:CP) should be 2:1 or whatever. If you are taking QA as a correction in the morning - make sure you enter it in the QA field and not in the Ratio field. Your diary does lots of good stuff in the background...such as add up your insulin intake for you..so need get data in the right place. Easy to go back and edit an entry...just click the time (underlined) for the entry you need to edit and you can quickly sort them out. If it is a correction only you don't need enter anything in Ratio..just leave it blank.

Agree about BI, try + 3u at night and see what happens. Depending on what BI you use will have an effect on your body reaction time.
I use Lantus BI and never see any change in BGs for 3 days. So if this is your poison too please make sure that you make changes progressively over a number of days so that you are sure of cause and effect. Stay in touch with your Health Care Professionals though so that they are informed. You could share your diary with them if they are prepared to do so.

You are doing fine. Difficult at first I know as it took me 5 months to get put straight, but as you say there is help available here.....24/7.

Topic: General Discussion / B G Diary Comments please

Have split my Lantus for over 2 years. Personally I use near equal doses but your needs will require some time and a long term assessment.
Some people use BI doses with a small differential of 2 or 4u....depending on your insulin resistance of course.
Currently mine are split 24u breakfast and 23u dinner but that may change later this week Confused
l try to get the timings 12 hours apart as it seems the simple way to get an 'even' BI always available for your body to use. Lantus dose changes, for most of us, seem to have a long reaction time - up to 3 days to see any resultant BG change. I normally take QA and BI insulin before breakfast at 06:45 and before dinner at around 19:00.
So for me it works.
At weekends, or on holiday, when getting up later.....dinner tends to be later too.....so it still works.

Topic: General Discussion / Pat on the back for Lilly

May have been at the time that they were in the process of bringing in the updated pen Lynda_2.
It looks the same but is supposed to be more reliable with better battery life.
They brought out the new pen last year and if you have already used the pen, replacement is available direct from Lilly - call 0800 783 6764 and they should be able to help. I think they requested my old pen serial number which can be found on the stem - wind the pen out to the full 60u dose and read the LOT number.
