Sorry Annette, I've been working on updating and fixing the iOS app and missed these - the issue is now fixed in the latest version (2.3.3) so I'd encourage you to upgrade as soon as possible.

Everyone is different and so are times of day........I use two different correction factors.....

if you just use the trial and error techniques taught in DAFNE you can work them out for you...

It sounds like the wool has been pulled from you eyes....I remember feeling the same.....

you will now be able to further refine your control and learn about certain behaviours that are unique to you....

No, it’s not ok. Just entered my night time BG and it’s given it loads of 0’s ending in a 1 again. Sigh. Is anyone actually taking any notice of my postings or am I wasting my time? Question

Ok, that seems to be ok now, but I can’t see my results for today on my phone. I really don’t want to have to go to the website every time I want to check my results for the day! I recently updated to iOS 12.

Topic: Carbohydrate Counting / Low carb bread

Hi, I also did some research into locarb bread and found that it was much higher in fat and protein and often sodium. I decided to stick with the high fibre, low GI, seed and grain rolls. (I buy mine from W'worths). They have a carb value for weight which I find helpful. I think weight gain/loss is a very complex problem and am not qualified to assist. Helen

It’s just done it again. Is it because we’ve just had an update and the app isn’t updated yet?

Topic: Carbohydrate Counting / Correction

Hi, I take 1 unit to bring down 3mmol. It always seems to take longer to come down from a high reading than it does to go up after having a hypo but if taking correction at mealtime you should be nearer or in target by next mealtime.

My DAFNE course workshop says 1 unit will drop BG by 2 to 3 units, but more may be required if BG over 11.

I would use that as a guide, then over time you might be able to work out what corrections work for you. Keeping good records helps (I use a spreadsheet).

I find it varies e.g. according to time of day or current BG level, and doesn't always work consistently.
During the day, 1 unit may drop BG by 2 to 3, late afternoon more like 1 to 1. I have also taken it at bedtime and BG has gone up overnight (also not taken any and BG dropped overnight by up to Cool.

Hope this helps,
J

Topic: Carbohydrate Counting / Low carb bread

I have been using an Aldi low carb bread that has for two slices five carbs. I was finding that my fast acting insulin instead of being lowered had to be increased to the level of having my two normal 15g of carb slices of bread. Befuddled, I asked my dietician who looked at the nutritional information and stated that the fats in the low carb bread was 12.8 and the protein 23.8 for the two slices. Could someone assist me with the question if the higher fats and protein lead to an increased insulin requirement will it also have an effect on weight gain even though it’s low carb bread?

I have some Word documents that allow me to print my own diaries. You'll need some A5 photographic paper (for the covers) and plain A5 paper (for the diary pages). You'll also need a printer that can print on A5 stationery (most inkjet printers do, I understand, but I'm not certain) and a stapler. I can email these documents to you if you're interested.

Topic: General Discussion / whats the blood test called that identifies Type1 diabetes?

Hi,
Can you tell me what the blood test is called that identifies a person has type 1 diabetes not type 2.
I recall being seen by a diabetic nurse back in 2015 when I was diagnosed and she explained there was a specific test - I'm sure it wasn't the HbAc1 test we all have 6 monthly / annually.
I'm trying to advise and guide a friend who is deeply concerned for her brother's health as he's been told he's type 2 but his symptoms and appearance indicates the diagnosis may be incorrect.

many thanks in advance

Sarah

Topic: General Discussion / Metronome course

Morning all I have just completed the DAFNE course at the metrodome in Barnsley, after being type 1 for 10 and a half years never testing or being informed or patterns or corrections, I feel a lot more confident in how I handle it now and what I’m doing and what I should look for. I am on novo rapid and levemir and they seem to work for me, at least for now the guys on my course were very helpful and a good laugh I think we were all very greatful for all the infomation Jenny and Maxine gave us. Well that’s it for now. Thanks again hopefully I can get my levels nore in target and now I understand what to do when I’m ill even with just a cold.
