Topic: General Discussion / HYPO - how best to treat & what with Like you Alan my favourite is Dextro tablets. Not keen on the Blackcurrant ones though!14 in a packet and after years of practice, I am good at splitting a packet into three - 5, 4 and 5. 5s go in the pocket and then at least one end of the pack is protected from going crispy! or blackened! (by my scruffy paws). 3 tablets for a regular hypo at 3.5 or so......but 5 if I've hit the wall. Kick in for me, in 15 minutes. Goes to show how we are all different. The 4 bit from the middle of the pack normally stays in the house giving quick access when needed. I've always tried to follow up with some slower CHO though. JWO loved your comment. When I was a child I loved Maynards wine gums.....only available in the North East I think. Used to eat them on a Sunday when my Dad would buy me a ¼ pound and I would eat the lot by 4 o'clock! Happy memories! Regards Garry |

Topic: General Discussion / HYPO - how best to treat & what with It depends where I am and how severe the hypo is. If I'm out and about, I'll have 4 Dextro tablets (Tropical flavour is my preference), which seem to take 25 minutes to become effective and deliver 10 carbs. I always carry a plastic bag of these loose in my pocket. And then, if necessary, I'll have follow this up with 4 more or a Jaffacake or biscuit. At home, I'll have a 150ml can of plain Coke, which seems to become effective quicker, and then test after half an hour and have the Dextro tablets if necessary. |

Topic: Carbohydrate Counting / Carbohydrate list in .csv format Hello, does anyone know where I can get a copy of the carbohydrate list in a .csv format. I want to use it to load into my insulin pump for when I am out and about. I would imagine there are other uses for the entire list in this format too. I've tried copying and pasting the pdf file into Excel but it doesn't work very well... Any ideas, links etc, gratefully received. |

Topic: General Discussion / HYPO - how best to treat & what with I have a preference towards wine gums (or as I've called them in a hypo state, "gine wums") because I found that jelly babies regularly would come out of my bag all smashed up... crumbs are not much good for someone with a wobble going on.![]() Have also used those 4g glucotabs but I haven't used those in ages... and when I'm absolutely desperate, I go to the traditional hardstuff: teaspoon o' sugar! After the above options, I aim to have something slow releasing, such as biscuit, fruit biscuit thing or bit of chocolate... but with DAFNE rules, it really does depend more on the time of the hypo (eg, if right before a meal, I only have the quick acting CPs, etc). |

Topic: General Discussion / Smart Insulin I understand that already and therefore agree. I do love the fact that the UK doesn't exercise a guinea pig sort of culture when it comes to medicine. We've got to protect ourselves.![]() I'm not sure how interested I am in Smart Insulin myself but I thought I'd bring it to others' attention. Thanks for your time. |

Topic: DAFNE Online Mobile / Android App Diary - iPhone/iPad App Diary & Web Online Diary - One Synchronised Diary HiJust downloaded the Android Dafne Online App. Looks brilliant - Thank you for making it available. I tried to use it for adding diary entries and uploading the entries but crashes in the app and I did click on the feedback/report option which hopefully sent some info to you yesterday. I have now updated the diary through the web pages using my PC but I was surprised that the diary entries visible in the Android App not showing my data. It would be really useful I think if we had a synchronise button and some clever code that merges the online diary with additios or changes from the mobile app. I also have an iPad and have the iPhone App there - Again it would be nice if I can access my diary / update it through the app and for sync option to be provided with auto & manual sync options. The App does have the username and password so it can connect to the main web diary. regards simon ajina |

Topic: DAFNE Online Mobile / Android app Hi Simon,A great app! We are all grateful to you! If you care, there is a minor bug for your attention... If you're trying to manually upload records that are in a shorter period that the one you choose, the app crashes (to illustrate, suppose that I am using the app for only 4 days and I am trying to upload manually the last week). Not a huge bug, but there you are! Best, Harry |

Topic: Site Development / Displayed View of BG Diary and End of Day special setting HiJust started to use the online BG Diary - Thank you very much for providing this facility. I have set a non standard end of day time beyond midnight and it would be nice if when displaying/printing diary records between specific or default date ranges, for the view to take account of this end of day time setting and treat entries after midnight but before my end of day time to be part of the previous day. At the moment my diary views start with my bedtime entry rather than the following morning pre breakfast entries. There may be several places where the end of day needs to come from the Diary Settings value rather than midnight. regards simon |

Topic: Site Development / Page Breaks for BG Diary Print function HiJust started to add entries to the online diary and used the built-in Print facility: 'Printable view of currently displayed results'. Would it be possible to force page breaks on day boundary rather than allow print to auto paginate at the wrong places. {When checking for day change, need to bear in mind the end of day time defined in Diary Settings) Thanks Simon |

Topic: General Discussion / HYPO - how best to treat & what with I used to use jelly babies but now use cheap energy drinks, the still versions............As I am trying to watch my calorie intake jelly babies were a bit too much calorie for me, although very effective........ As long as its quick acting sugar and depending on the hypo, between 15 - 30 g of CHO your laughing....... |

Topic: DAFNE Online Mobile / Android app
Hi Libby, You can edit (or delete) the entries from the entries icon, a long press on the entry in question will bring up a menu offering you the option to edit or delete. I have noticed that the count of entries seems not to be accurate, you may also notice that the listed time frame is not accurate either (when uploading a week's worth of data or longer). From what I can tell, the app breaks the information to upload into blocks and uploads them. The details shown in the information box seem to be related to internal working counters and perhaps not relevant to the user. Regards, John |

Topic: General Discussion / HYPO - how best to treat & what with I use glugo tabs post DAFNE.I know that each tab will quickly raise my blood sugar by about 1 unit, so I can judge how many tabs I need. I isn't perfect, and I am sure that other methods wouls work just as well, but I have bought a number of the small containers - containing 10 tabs, so what ever coat/jacket etc I have there is a container in it, and I get a large container (approx 50 tabs) from my chemist whenever I get my repeat. It is a simple task of refilling the smaller containers as and when they need replenishing. It works for me |

Topic: DAFNE Online Mobile / Android app I am totally loving the android app - thank you clever app designer people! Two quick queries - 1. It is possible to amend entries online, is it possible to do this in the app? And if not could this (and deleting entries) be considered for future development? 2. When I uploaded my entries it said that there weren't any, but it actually uploaded them (unless I misunderstood what it said) - has anyone else come accross this? Thanks! Libby |

Topic: Carbohydrate Counting / Watch out - Corn on the cob! The digestion of fat shouldn't have an effect directly on your blood sugar, it might mean that carbs mixed with high fat [pizza] may be digested quicker than most.....I suppose people do digest at different rates, but different types of food can be processed very differently also in different people......... its a tricky one, corn, beans, nuts are all slowly digested, but not because of high fat content, its more kind of low complex carb I believe, so things like that could still digest slowly even in someone like yourself who can process fat quickly...............its an interesting topic of discussion and one that I would like to find out more about.............. at the moment for me though, I dont count anything over 10grams, or if it falls in the pulses, nuts, protein or fat category........ |

Topic: Carbohydrate Counting / Watch out - Corn on the cob!
Oh I see! that's very interesting. The other thing I was wondering was whether it's caused by the fact that some people digest at different rates. Eg I'm pretty sure I digest fat quite quickly... I don't get delayed bg spikes after gigantic fish and chip suppers like some people do, and I also find that milk chocolate goes into my system pretty fast. That would explain the need to count cashew nuts, but doesn't explain the corn on the cob mind you! |
