Your 16 BI may well be right............the idea was that the total daily dose of BI being on the low side, so , your 16 to my 70, may contribute to the need to count slower released carbs due to the lack of extra BI insulin to process the carbs from these foods.........

Just a theory though........

Hi Russell,

You can edit (or delete) the entries from the entries icon, a long press on the entry in question will bring up a menu offering you the option to edit or delete.
As far as I know you can't email your information, but you can upload/sync it to the dafneonline.co.uk site (only visible to you). From there you may be able to get the information you are after.

Thanks for the info. I dont particularly want to go back to my Blackberry just to use the DAFNE android app, so will carry on accessing DAFNE on-line through the mobile net. The N8 camera beats any blackberry hands down, dont really want an iPhone either, they're too expensive and not robust enough, so can cope without the app for another 18months or so.

I count corn on the cob, and also count cashew nuts, although no other nuts. Have just done some carb free adjustments so am pretty sure my background is right at the moment (16 BI).

Hi I am a DAFNE graduate from last year and until now have used On Track app while waiting for this one. I downloaded it yesterday and it seems to work fine except for a couple of annoying things: cannot find a way to delete a wrong entry if as I did yestterday the decimal point did not register meaning a 63 instead of 6.3, and the keypad on the screen changes from numeris to alfa-numeric when entering BG, CP etc., one last thing is can you email your readings summaries to yourself for printing as you can with On Track where it comes in csv or as a Html with a graph?

I am using Glucofacts from Bayer, although it dosen't give you an option to export however I can access the diary database file. So maybe it could just import the database file? I would of thought it uses a MySQL database and the same for the DAFNE diary?

Nikki, thats not how HBA1c works. It is a measure of the glucose attached to haemoglobin in the blood. This process occurs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You measure your blood glucose 4 times in 24 hours probably, thus what you see is only a very brief snapshot of what your BG is doing. So basically the two things do different things. The HBA1c is to let your diabetes team see what your BG has been doing on average for the last 3 months, the BG tests are telling you if your insulin intake is correct. Both are important but probably the blood tests are more important because if you are doing them regularly then you should pretty much know your HBA1c is going to be ok even if you don't know exactly what it is. There is also the fact that HBA1c is not 100% accurate and becasue its is an average your BG could have been 10+ half the day and 4- for the rest of the day giving an average in 'range'.

I know this thread is a few months old but I thought it might be the right place to pose this question....

A hypothetical question....
Lets say I started my day with BS of 6
I then eat / drink carbs every 2 or 3 hours through out the day
I know I have the correct ratio's and inject the correct QA for the carbs I've had, so techinally I should come back down to a BS or 6.

Because i've had carbs before my QA has "run out/worn off" i.e. within the 4 / 5 hours it lasts for, will my HBA1c reflect where my levels will end up or where they have actually been through out the day?

Just an update for you... I did my non carb dinner so didn't have any QA within 5 hours of bed time. I took my normal BI and went to bed with BS of 7. I woke up 7 hours later with BS of 12.

Whilst I didn't do a middle of the night check, I now believe that i definately have the ol' dawn phenomenon. Ho hum!

An alternative would be if the meter software gives a decent enough export (XML,Csv, json etc) then we might be ale to select file uploads which parse the output and create a bunch of entries. We just need to understand what comes out of the software that Guy mentioned.

yes, its another 'on the drawing board' feature that hasn't quite been implemented. Earlier in the year there was some prototype software for Lifescan meters and I have a Menarni 'Glucomen Lx Plus' that was very kindly supplied by the manufacturer in a box waiting for me to do something with it. The big issue is if we can get all
manufacturers to tell us how we access the data stored on the meters. Some are happy and helpful to do this, others are very protective and seem to want you to
use their software to manage your Blood Glucose data. In an ideal world we will produce a program that links to the site and allows you to add the 'extra' bit that talks to your meter. Hopefully it will happen one day in the not too distant future, it would be nice to be able to upload direct from your meter to the online diary.

Repeat prescriptions used to be easy.
I was able to submit a repeat in the morning and pick it up that afternoon, but I have found slightly different problems.
1) You can only have a supply for a month
- I put a prescription in and because I don't use everything every month I ended up with more items than what I ordered.
i.e. Lantus Insulin when it isn't ordered!
I got the lancets without any problem but I was told that I couldn't have the strips because they had just issued one.
The surgery hadn't issued one but according to the records it had been though the prescription was not printed.
The other problem I have is that due to the short surgery hours it is difficult to get to the GP and I use the Boots Repeat Prescription Service but the surgery doesn't like it.

Leaving receptionists to do repeat prescriptions is a recipe for disaster unless they are a registered Nurse.

It's all down to money rather than the Patient's interests.

Get hold of your GP...sorry book an appointment for a wee chat [bollocking]...directly.
Different matter if you are early ordering an addictive drug...that I can understand...but test strips!
A doctor is there to provide a service.
