Topic: General Discussion / Freestyle Libre Unfortunately I think it depends on the individual as to how accurate it is.I have found the Libre 2 is usually a few points of a blood glucose reading most of the time although there was the occasional time when it was 2 or 3 mmol/L difference but whether the Libre 2 was inaccurate it or the BG meter, I don't know. Others in this forum seem to have had greater inaccuracies though. |

Topic: General Discussion / Freestyle Libre Hi Folks.I have been trying to access the Libre sytem for some time, there have been delays after delay with the induction and assisting me in starting the use of the gadget. I have opted to go for a 1-1 with the local iabetes centre altough this in itself is likely to take even longer. However, from what I have seen on these posts there seems to be question over the accuracy alongside the reliability. I have battled on with glucose testing for donkeys years and this seems to offer consistent accuracy and reliability, so the question is - "Are these worth the effort" as it maybe a level of trust on a device against the accuracy of glucose testing. |

Topic: General Discussion / Improving access to DAFNE in Scotland The ALLIANCE’s Diabetes Lived Experience Network are performing a survey for those that have lived experience of diabetes (and that will include the experience of structured education) in Scotland; which they will feedback to the Scottish Government. The ALLIANCE and DAFNE Central need the help of Graduates from Scotland in filling out a short survey on their experience of DAFNE, with the aim of improving access to DAFNE in Scotland. You can find out more information from their flyer here. |

Topic: General Discussion / Freestyle Libre Hi lucy1gus2. I had the same problem with at least 4 of the sensors failing, sometimes within a couple of days. If you email the company with all details of the failed sensors they are happy and quite quick to replace them. I have found that, since placing the sensor further back on my arm so less likely to lie on it while asleep, I haven’t had any failures. Don’t know if this is just a coincidence! The hospital specialist advised me to set my low BG alarm to below 3.5 as I was having several, and this also helps me to be less reliant on the alarms and more on how I’m feeling. The sensors lag behind what is actually happening so it may be you were low but your body has already compensated. I hope this helps. Persevere! I was frustrated with mine at first and close to giving up, but now am quite happy with it once I’ve got used to its quirks! |

Topic: General Discussion / Freestyle Libre I have had a Libre 2 for a couple of months now after trying to get one for several years hoping that it would help me get better control. I went for using the low alarm as I was always going hypo with no warning. Previously I would have 1 or 2 hypos a week now its 1 or 2 a day supposedly as the libre was giving readings below 3.9 but on checking with my meter it was always around 5 or 6. Frustrating.Today I had a message on the Libre that the sensor was faulty and needed replacing ( after 1 weeks usage ) Fortunately I had one in reserve. So the fingers appreciate the Libre but I'm not so sure I do |

Topic: General Discussion / Flash Monitoring I got mine just over a month ago after years of asking when I told them I didn't care about what happened with my Diabetes two weeks later I was on the online course and now have my monitor. ( I have had three really bad years and so the Diabetes kind of took the back seat, hopefully though the sensor is helping me get back on track ) |

Topic: General Discussion / Flash Monitoring Hi,Not wishing to disappoint you but its not strictly true. The device they show is a FreeStyle Libre and in theory this has been available to UK Diabetics for a few years on our Health Service. However its roll-out has been patchy at best. We have a saying in the UK called 'the post-code lottery' (post-codes identify your address ) and it really applies to this. The funding for it comes from the local health care bodies and some are a lot more willing than others to let people have them. I think they would be a great benefit to many people and I am lucky enough to have my Dexcom G6 CGM funded by my hospital but thats only because I am under a London hopsital for my pump and when I told them I was self-funding the CGM they decided to pay for it. If I had tried the same thing where I actually live , more in the countryside, I would have had zero chance of getting it funded. Still hopefully all these devices will get cheaper, more will come onto the market to increase the competion meaning a lot more people will be able to get them. They don't replace finger pricking but thats a whole other discussion :-) |

Sorry, no experience but all the best for it. All I can suggest is that you record your BGLs throughout each round of chemo, and hopefully after the first few rounds you will have an idea of what to expect in later rounds. |
