Topic: Site Development / Online BG Diaries

I might be getting another machine for dedicated use for ketones after the spell of illness I've had recently... so it might be worth looking at the other variants besides the traditional use of - and +.

Unless there's a way to convert the numbers over to the traditional system used on ketone stixs?

Not 100% sure what mg/dL stands for (sorry Sad ). I can't seem to find a more up to date image of the bottle side on the net! >_<

I check for ketones on my daughter's spare meter which gives the reading in number form. (0.0 up to 6.6 are the results we've had)

Topic: Site Development / Online BG Diaries

Hi all,

We've been updating the site to new software recently, getting to the end of that now so will look to add the ketones value to the diary and iPhone app. How is the best way to record these? I was thinking a drop down list with the options (-, +, ++, +++, ++++) - would this be OK or does anybody record them differenty?

Well thank you for your help I think my BI is ok as I have stoped the night hypos and BGs stay about the same through night so have been on 10 BI for 4 days now and I am still in the 14.0s for lunch time BGs so this morning I have put my ratio up at breakfast from 2:1 up to 2.5:1 so I will see how it goes. I was 7.3 at 3.00 and 8.9 at 7.30 so did not do a correct at 7.30 Ill see if it has come down with doing the correction. Ill let you know how it goes thank you for sharing yours .

The Alchemists Daughter by Katharine McMahon - and my Amazon review
The length of the book was far too short for me. I was captivated from the first page; life at Selden, not knowing your mother, words I had never read/seen before - "phlogiston", romance, a cad, human trafficking, wigs, whorehouses, and death. A delight to read with some wonderful descriptive passages, together with dialogue that kept the story moving at a relaxed pace, but sufficient to keep me enthralled. FAB-U-LOUS, and will have no difficulty selecting Miss McMahon's other books from the bookshop.

Just to give you an idea of the type of anorak I am; I have a list of every book title and author I have read since August 7th 1973 - and I'd just reached double figures in '73. It makes fascinating reading!

trudi, your dafne centre's forum should appear on the forum's page at the bottom. The 'My DAFNE Centre' link is a shortcut to the same place.

As long as you can see patterns, the highs will eventually be resolved - try to not be distracted by them, okay? Smile

Take my results on this date (above) for an example. I knew from seeing this regular pattern of 10 BG after letting my meal insulin finish with no corrections for the highs that it was likely that I would only need to put my during the day BI up 1 or 2 units to get everything right.

Though I was not aware that I was ill on that occasion, but if I had not been, it is very likely that putting that BI up would have been my final action to take.

As long as you're very very sure that your BI doses are reasonably correct, then look at ratio adjustment . This is what my DAFNE nurse had to say to me a few times - should be putting more demand on our BI than our meal ratios. Keep this in mind before correcting if you're not sure on your BI!

You're very lucky to not have to split dose while being on Lantus... I did have to, so I changed over to Levemir because it was intentionally made to be a split dose insulin.

I use Hypo-Fit http://articmedical.co.uk/contents/en-uk/d20_Hypo-Fit.html take 1 about every 30 minutes on a long run - I find them easier to carry than drinks / jellies

Thank you JWo it is hard when you think you are getting there and then things go wrong agen BGs have been high for 3 days now thank god no ketones like you had but think I have my BI about right as no more night hypos. BGs have been high at lunch times so think I might try and see what happens if I up my breakfast ratio as thy are up then for a week now but left it as I was getting BI right to stop hypos at night bbut think that its about time now to start on that one. I think that the DAFNE book is ok but it dosent say what to do when all your readings are up. Think I must be just daft or my mind dosent work like everbody else. Or its just because I am not well that I carnt make head or tale of the dam thing. Take Care

Topic: DAFNE Online Mobile / Wrong Date Showing

I have been using the DAFNE online mobile site for about 10 days now & think it is fantastic! One of my downfalls is not writing my results & CP intake down but this has been brilliant for me as I always have my phone to hand! I have been doing really well with everything, until 2 days ago when I noticed the following:

The date of my last reading is showing on my mobile as August!!
When I write new results in they do not appear on DAFNE online when I log on from my laptop or at work.

This was working fine until recently - any ideas what I can do to fix it?! I have tried refreshing the page on my phone and also logging out completely & typing the page in afresh.

I am using a Blackberry - hope someone can help!!

Topic: General Discussion / Exercise

I've often had trouble with my BGs and exercise. I'm trying to get back to regular training, but I am struggling, and the BG doesn't always change how you expect. Most of the time, the BG crashes after i've finished the session, but from time to time it goes up, and that could be just a result of a false high because the actual BG is low. I would recommend anybody doing any exercise should keep a bottle of lucozade, Glucose Tablets, Jelly Beans with them just in case.

Topic: General Discussion / What are you reading?

I've been a big fan of James Herbert (Horror), and have read all the books. I'm eagerly anticipating his next book in March next year. Another author I enjoy is James Patterson, and especially liked the Women's Murder Club series (1st to Die, 2nd... up to book 9) they are all titled with the number in the series.

I used to be a big fan of comics (Batman, Superman, etc) but haven't looked at them in some time now.

I don't travel into work for as long as I used to, so don't get a chance to get into a book now, and have opted more for the audio books, as I can listen to them on the IPOD whether i'm on a train or driving.

I love reading Lee Childs. He writes a series about a Character called Jack Reacher. They are really action packed and keep you on the edge of your seat from front to back. I'm also loving anything by Jodi Piccoult, she has a really different way of writing her novels, they are a bit lighter than I usually read but I do enjoy them

Topic: DAFNE Online Mobile / Needlessly Repeated BG Results...

I'm using a cheap and cheerful Samsung E2100B.

I've tried only once to upload my BG results to my diary via the DAFNE Online Mobile Site and for some reason when it was trying to send the first one through, it kept being "redirected" over and over. Eventually I gave up on it and assumed that I was going to be unable to send BG results successfully through my mobile.

Once I got back on a computer however, I found out that it had posted the one BG entry 15 times over the date it was set for.
I'm not sure if this is a problem with my phone or not. I'm quite impressed that I can post on the forums fine on it at least.

Would you like me to try posting some BG results again for experimentation?
Thanks in advance for your replies!
