Topic: General Discussion / Insulin Pumps Hi all,I'm on an Animas with the option to go to CGM feature. Not made the leap get as the additional gadget is expensive and I think they need a bit more time to iron out the glitches. I do not love my pump as many do as it is less than PERFECT! Still have occasional issues with the champagne bubbles and timing of set changes etc when timed for the middle of the night or during social events. I am on huge doses of insulin and a cartridge last about 38-9 hours so the changes advance through the day. I want smaller batteries and bigger cartridges. Helen |

Topic: General Discussion / Insulin Pumps On my sadness course they showed us different pumps. I decided I didn't like the tubes but knew a pump would help my sensitivity issues so when I discussed with consultant and he recommended Medtronic, I said no would only consider omnipod and gave him my reasons for it..he agreed and was no the pod within 6 weeks of that appointment (were waiting on funding) |

Topic: General Discussion / Insulin Pumps Hi Vickyp, nice to meet someone from Durham as Consett is my hometown. Were you given a choice of which insulin pump to go on or was it the decision of the Diabetes nurse ? Last week was the first time i heard about the omnipod. |

Hi Pat, Pleased you have been able to sort out the diary from the link I suggested. I admire your knowledge of how to change a PDF to a word document ! I certainly find it easier to see trends on a paper record rather than on electronic records. Best wishes, S. |

Topic: General Discussion / Cycling Yeah, I'm a keen runner. I've started a 7 mile run at 9.0 before setting off. Once finished ended at 16.0 even in the hot sun! I explained to HCP they said it was an adrenaline rush. Cos it seems to wear off later in the day! |

Topic: General Discussion / Insulin Pumps Hi, i have had a pump for 6 years now and i am so glad i made the change. Just did the DAFNE for pump users last week and found it very useful. Apart from the other people on the course i do not know anyone else on a pump so sometimes feel i have no one to share experiences with or anyone to ask advice from A couple of friends with diabetes are on injections and don't carb count. At the moment i am trying to get all my blood sugars in target and finding weighing my food a bit of an inconvenience lol |

Topic: General Discussion / Cycling Hi,I am a keen cyclist and struggling with MDI, on Levemir and NovoRapid. Basically if my BG is over 10 I feel lethargic on the bike and can't keep up on group ride, therefore I have some QA, but if the ride is over 3+ hours, by the end I can't keep up cos I'm eating constantly. Just wondered what/how others cope with endurance exercise? Is a pump better for this type of exercise? Would self funding a CGM help? I could tell later in a ride if I was going low or just tired! Any help and advice would be appreciated. Phil |

Topic: General Discussion / Gym I have a few small amounts of Innocent Smoothie before, during and after my gym session. This contains fast release carbs, but it seems to work for me. I've never been able to accurately gauge how many long acting carbs I need to take to keep my sugars up, particularly if I'm doing any sort of high intensity circuits or the like. I also don't want to have to do exercise on a full stomach. |

Topic: DAFNE Online Mobile / Android App - Correction for high BG Really disappointed. Have only just bought a Samsung and downloaded the dafne app. What else can't the android do? Not being able to add carbs doesn't particularly bother me. |

Topic: Carbohydrate Counting / Good carb counting resource? Hi, I'm not a DAFNE graduate, in fact I cannot access any education in my NHS trust, so I am trying to work out management for myself. Can anyone recommend a good app / website for carb values please?Thank you |

Topic: General Discussion / DAFNE MONITORING DIARIES Hi All,An update on my progress so far. I have used Stephens suggested link for the T1 download (http://www.diabetes-support.org.uk/info/?page_id=122) and then uploaded it to an online pdf converter. I now have a word document that i can change text and boxes in. It now looks very similar to the DAFNE format, just a tad bigger, and with a few more boxes. I'm now going to borrow Alan's idea of using photographic paper for a cover, and thin card for the pages and start making some of my own Monitoring Diary's as i need them. I will also be continuing with the iPhone app to see how i get on with it. (however i do keep getting funny looks at work (its that phantom text-er)) ![]() |

Topic: General Discussion / DAFNE MONITORING DIARIES Many Thanks Alan & Stephen.I very much like the sound of your A5 homemade one Alan, but my printer can't do A5. What a shame. I have taken a look at your suggested links Stephen, and like the look of the T1 download as its not far off the DAFNE style i have been used too. I am now trying to use a pdf convertor to change it to Word or XL to allow me to alter some text. ![]() I will let you know how i get on. |

Topic: General Discussion / DAFNE MONITORING DIARIES Pat, I have found te diary freely downloadable from Diabetes support information exchange the most helpful. It is based on the DAFNE diary but allows much room for data which i find particularly helpful for frequent testing on an insulin pump.http://www.diabetes-support.org.uk/info/?page_id=122 |

Topic: General Discussion / Injecting Yeah it's a possibility Lucy! If there's a hardening/lumpy area of skin- that would explain the increased amount of pain you mentioned! |

Topic: Site Development / results graphs Jenny,What I think you want is the 7 day trend graph, but over 30 days, I think this would be too squished up and unreadable hence the reason its not available. What I would possibly do is grab 4 different 7 day graphs to show the months data. Hopefully that helps. Phil |
