Topic: General Discussion / Green Day. well done, also a long time since I was on this site, and I have also had (almost) a complete day of testing in the normal ranges. Don't be discouraged by the hypos, I often find when I'm trying to be 'good' and strictly record everything I have more hypos than normal. A few hypos better than constantly running high! |

Topic: General Discussion / Online version of DAFNE? Hi Andrewarts,I sympathise with your situation. I was sceptical of the value of DAFNE since I had been carbohydrate counting and making my own adjustments since 1967. However after retiring in 2012 I finally felt I could afford the time to attend the course. I certainly found it helpful to meet others who were managing type 1 diabetes and despite my own personal knowlege and knowlege from books and medical journals I learned much from the course. One thing which impressed me was how different we all are and that something which works for one person will not necessarily be guaranteed to work for someone else. I found discussions of how to adjust for exercise particularly helpful. I do hope you are able to find a suitable solution to enable you to benefit from DAFNE. Best wishes ! |

Topic: General Discussion / Green Day. Hi, a long time since I was last here. Some four years since graduating from the course, I achieved my first ever complete day of testing within the target ranges![]() |

Topic: General Discussion / BEER AFTER DINNER I find my BG goes up with a beer, but then drops a two or three hours later. So my routine is:QA, then beer, followed by a kebab at the end of the drinking session. ![]() |

Topic: General Discussion / Online version of DAFNE? Tough call, though I'm wondering why you've not got the option of paid holiday? It's very worth doing IMO as well. I hope something can be worked out. ![]() |

Topic: General Discussion / Online version of DAFNE? I've been diabetic for 40 years (since I was 4 years old), have been self-adjusting for 25+ years, and I'm also a pharmacist so have always been quite confident that I've been managing my Diabetes as well as possible.I did a DAFNE course a couple of months ago, and it has completely revolutionised how I manage and think about my Diabetes. I've lost weight, feel better, and have lower blood glucose, even though I'm injecting less insulin! I can't recommend DAFNE highly enough. I was sceptical that I could learn anything new, but it's the best thing I ever did. Wish I'd done it years ago. |

I seem to have an issue with my blood sugars falling low when I'm particularly stressed. I'm 13 weeks pregnant at the moment and try to not let stress affect me but there have been a few issues with work/some family members recently which can turn me from super cool one minute to breaking point the next. Any tips (apart from trading some people in-which I'm considering! Lol) |

Topic: General Discussion / Hypos - All Over The Place I seem to be hypoing all over the place at the moment, I could have shares with jelly babies lol.I have been slowly reducing my lantus by 2u at a time then giving it 3+ days for it to settle & 3+ to see any effects. The last time I reduced was Sat 20/09. I'm wondering whether a time change of lantus ie taking it in a morning rather than evening (10:30pm ish) would help - I know of somebody whos dsn suggested this why I don't really know & I know we're all different. Can anyone see any trends Any help in identifying trends and/or advice on how to improve my control would be greatly appreciated Thank you |

Topic: DAFNE Online Mobile / iPhone 6 Hi Yes I downloaded a new version of the app and set the default view to all before entering a new BM entry and refreshing the history. I think it downloaded about 11 days of entries. |

Topic: DAFNE Online Mobile / iPhone 6 Hi Austen,Did you download a new copy of the app on your new phone, or restore it from a backup of a previous iphone? If it's a new copy of the app then when we do the download it only gets the last 14 days worth of entries so you will only see them. Note when you add new entries to the app the ones you've already downloaded will still be visible as the app lists all entries it has stored. Hope this makes sense? Simon |

Topic: Site Development / Online pump diaries Hi, not at the moment because we are currently not allowed access to any of the pump course materials. If and when we are we will of course try to adapt them for the site |

Topic: DAFNE Online Mobile / iPhone 6 Hi I have just upgraded to the new IPhone 6 and when I added my DAFNE app it would only let me download entries up to 14 days I have tried resetting the app to 30 days and All but it still will only show the previous 14 days? I have tried removing the app and it did the same thing. Any help would be appreciated? |

Topic: Site Development / Online pump diaries Hello!I have just received a hard copy of the DAFNE pump diary from my diabetest centre, and I wondered if this is something that will be added to the site, i.e. an online pump glucose diary? Thanks Sarah |

Topic: General Discussion / Change of routine and injection times I think the '3am bit' is the time you will be getting up so that you can get to the airport and check-in at 4am.I always make sure my BGs are fairly high when I fly anywhere - the last thing you want is a hypo at an airport, or worse still, on the plane. I test my BGs more frequestly as well. |

Topic: General Discussion / Change of routine and injection times Diane, as lantus can stay working for more than 24 hours adjusting like this by adding extra on to extend time between injections is not advisable. I got a bit confused by the times you have listed - flight arrives at 6am and just for the night of the flight your bedtime & wake up will be 2 hours earlier than usual - where does the 3am bit come from?If your bedtime and wake up on flight day will just be 2 hours different then perhaps the day or two days before you can take doses an hour earlier than usual (no adjusting to size should be needed, but do make sure you have a snack with you post injection just in case), and on the day then you can increase to 2 hours earlier. Then do in reverse (presumably your wake up and bed times will be later whilst on holiday?). But if there is no difference in the time zones between UK and holiday destination I'd suggest it will probably just be easier to keep injecting at your usual times (actual clock times rather than activity/eating/bed times) even if that includes one wake up at a time that you'd rather not whilst flying. The stress of worrying whether you did the maths right and which times you should be doing what might be worse than just doing it at an inconvenient time once or twice. |
