Topic: General Discussion / BI split I try to keep mine equal (currently 13 and 13). I was on 14 and 11 and my BGs were a bit erratic so it was suggested at Diabetic clinic to try to equalise. (I got the impression the DSN preferred them to be more equal)But we're all different - it may depend on your activity etc. If your BGs and HBA1C are in range, then maybe you've found a regime to suit you. If you do change, probably best to do it gradually and wait 2 or 3 days between each adjustment. Hope this helps, J |

Topic: General Discussion / sweet drinks Mrs A,Almost certaily the non alcoholc Pina Colada will contain some sort of sugar even if it's only fructose from the fruit used. I would count it in with your meal . The hard part is trying to decide how much of it is carbohydrate. Not being one who likes cocktails maybe some of our other members may have a better idea of the values. |

Topic: General Discussion / sweet drinks hi I'm new to carb counting, I'm aware that having fruit juice raises blood sugar level too quick and having juice alone isn't one of the Dafne principles, but ofcourse you can have it with a meal. I was wondering if the same applies for non alcoholic piña colada? |

Topic: General Discussion / Medical tattoos Today have had a medical tattoo, the rod of Asclepius and diabetic 1 in writing below. Looks great on inside of left forearm. Not sure how popular med tats are but would definitely suggest younger type 1s give them a thought. I'm 52 and been type 1 for 26yrs and wish now that someone would have given me the idea of a med tat. If anyone see's this post the info I would give is, 1 be sure you want a tat 2 research different designs 3 find a quality tattooist to discuss ideas 4 be proud to let everyone see your tat and finally hope that no one ever has to see your tat in an emergency. |

Topic: DAFNE Online Mobile / iPhone 6 Also if you can please let us know which special characters you were using in your password (not the whole password for security reasons) so we can check to see if the app needs updating to work with them. |

Topic: General Discussion / Feeling tired Hi. Obviously check out all possible medical issues as it sounds like you are doing. It may sound counterintuitive if your feeling tired but regular exercise can give you a great boost and helps all round... you would be surprised the difference it can make... |

Topic: General Discussion / Feeling tired John,I have just had my annual check up and i complained of being tired (going to bed at 8pm and waking at 4:30am. He checked my vitamin B (6 or 12 I can't remember) levels with a blood test. Apparently they can reduce especially if you are on Metformin and this contributes to tiredness levels...just a thought. Topic: General Discussion / Blood Glucose Diary from 19 April to 29 April for Philippa Marks Hi Philippa, I'm afraid I haven't been able to reduce my evening dose of QA insulin by 1 unit as previously advised as I've been having Hypos in the evenings. This is either because I've corrected my lunchtime QA dose by too much, or because I haven't had enough carbs before exercise. I'm trying not to over correct my QA dose by looking at my corrections in the past couple of weeks and the effect on my BG levels.Best wishes Clare |

Topic: General Discussion / Feeling tired Hi john mMy first thought was your BG's. Could be you may need some iron supplements? I would see your local GP just to check stuff out. Good luck. regards sjohno |

Topic: General Discussion / Pump death? Update on the pump death...I went to my endocrinologist today and mentioned my upcoming cataract operations and cited the difficulty I was having reading the pump. He had a look and then showed me on a pump he has what mine ought to look like. The difference was amazing! I could easily read his but in the light of his rooms mine was difficult to read...even for him! So he has, on my behalf, requested a new pump based on the lack of screen contrast. If the health fund accepts that this is not "fit for purpose" then I will get a replacement within the month. It appears that one of the more common faults that develop is a fading screen but because it fades gradually you tend not to notice until you see what one ought to look like or your medico sees the screen. We will see. Helen |

Topic: DAFNE Online Mobile / iPhone 6 In theory the two should work the same and the authentication check is identical, I would suggest setting a simple password temporarily to see if it resolves the issue. I have also seen people add a space at the start of the username/password in the app that the website will not accept. So also try clearing both fields in the app and re-entering your credentials again. If you still experience issues please post the date and time you attempted to connect with the app so I can check in the logs to try to identify what is happening. |

Topic: DAFNE Online Mobile / iPhone 6 Hi everyone,I'm a recent "graduate" of the DAFNE scheme. At the end of the week we were provided with a login for DAFNE online which works - for the website. I also downloaded the app and have discovered that the the username and password which work fine on this site, are refused by the app. I use a fairly complex password - could this be causing the problem ![]() ![]() Would much prefer to add my results through the app (suffer from geek-itis), so would appreciate some support with this. Thanks Richard |
