Topic: General Discussion / Access to courses. Before my hospital started offering DAFNE courses I was offered a transfer to a hospital that was offering the service. This was partly in response to my raising the subject at every appointment. The downside to the offer was that all care would have moved to the hospital offering DAFNE, which was something I did not want to do. Luckiiy for me UCHL started offering DAFNE soon after. The MK appraoch sounds good, if you can achieve something similar. The options around Aylesbury are Northampton (as mentioned) plus Bedford and Harrow or going to central London. If you can achieve any interest in your local hospital starting to offer DAFNE, then there are a range of materials available from the Central DAFNE team on the benefits for the PCT. Either Marke or myself can put you in contact with DAFNE Central if required. |

Topic: General Discussion / Pregnancy Hi Shazz, I am 35 and currently 7 weeks pregnant. There is a diabetic group on the babycentre website, and a pregnancy group on the diabetessupport.co.uk forum. I also found a couple of peoples stories of their pregnancies on the DUK website. Do you have a pre-pregnancy clinic at your hospital. I went to that for about a year before with their help getting my hba1c down to 7.4 and being told it was ok to go ahead and ttc. Are you on the high dose of folic acid?Hope you have success soon. Topic: Site Development / Online BG Diaries Hi all,Forgive me if this is in the wrong thread, but would like to make some suggestions for adding some tools to the BG Diary that may be of use to others: - ratios: it is a pain to keep entering these every time you make an entry! can you either input your regular ratios for each time of day into your settings (like the BG targets), or make a drop down list on the entry page (instead of typing 1:1 etc)? - could you also make a drop down list on th entry page to show injection site (eg. stomach, right (and left) arm/thigh/calf, Buttocks, other) ? This would be really useful to monitor where you are injecting to help you see if you are doing it in a particular place too often. Also, as different areas of the body have different absorption rates it may also give indication as to why BGs have fluctuated out of target. There's a really good App I found for my iPhone: 'Diabetes Diary' v 1.5.2 by Chris Bowley, that shows a picture of the human body with your injection sites given as a %s. Each area gets redder the more you inject in a particular site. Perhaps you could replicate something similar for the Graphs page?? Many thanks in advance Emma |

Topic: Questions ? / Hypo recognition. Hello,Since doing a DAFNE course in November, I have experienced a lot of hypo's, often 1 or 2 per day and sometimes 3. Normally I am able to identify hypo's quite easily, however in the last few days, I have experienced a 3.2 result at breakfast, when feeling well. Also on a couple of occasions I have felt hypo, checked my blood and got 9.6 & 8.2 readings, only to be 1 hour later down to around 2.4 Could it be that having had so many hypo's I am losing my awareness or could there be any other factors? I have had Type 1 for 30 years and was beginning, for the first time, to feel more in control of my sugars. At least I no longer have so much up and down. |

Topic: Site Development / Deleting Multiple Diary Entries Hi Simon .. thanks for that, should be most helpful in sorting errors.A comment on your instructional note .. 'the box left' shold be ' the box above' ? Also, trying to update multiple a few mins ago, gave an 'unkown error'. Could be my pc tho as having a few probs at moment. Cheers, John |

Topic: Site Development / Deleting Multiple Diary Entries We've added support for deleting diary entries now. You will see a check box next to each of your entries in your diary - check this and click the button below the diary and the selected entries will be deleted.Re the Consistency report - a great idea but pretty complex so will probably take some time - we will work on it though! Topic: Site Development / Glycaemic Index I apologise - there IS a reference to the Glycaemic Index in the DAFNE Course Handbook section. It gives a short list of high GI items and a list of low GI items. I appreciate that compiling and maintaining a full Glycaemic Index list would be quite a task, but I'm sure this facility would enhance DAFNE Online's reputation as a source of useful information.Alan |

Topic: Site Development / Glycaemic Index Alan,While I think this is a good idea, I'm not sure about referencing an external source that we have no control over. The web is a free for all publishing media where often the facts are only a minor inconvenience. For that reason I would rather ask DAFNE Central if they can provide us with GI infromation to publish ourselves. That way it comes from the 'DAFNE' source and hopefully can be considered accurate. I will ask the question and post what I get in response back here |

Topic: Site Development / Glycaemic Index Hi Alan,In my mind this would fit in nicely with our current CP listing - what are your thoughts? Thanks, Simon |
