Topic: Site Development / DAFNE Online iPhone application - help with content/design needed

Blimey Simon... That I wasn't expecting. Sounds like you've got your hands full at the moment so appreciate the reply.

Pump records have to include the following list for each day and can often - if not always - with 10+ entries a day. The injections your belly escapes, your fingers more than make up for. Heheh...

Time
BG
Carb
Carb Bolus
BG Bolus (Correction)
IOB (Active Insulin)
Total Bolus
Change (of syringe etc)
Basal
Temp Basal

It's a bit funny as the pump does a lot of the working out for you and even saves a lot of your data, but I for one, can't make head or tail of the info it churns out at you when you use the meters software... Hence a return to ink and destruction of a small rainforest!

Can't praise the pump highly enough, but the logging system is another story completely.

If you like I'll pm you a link to some of my logs that are currently in spreadsheet style if that's of any use.

Thanks for the interest, effort and work that goes with it... Top man!

Hi Thunderbolt,

As a non-pump user I don't know what you guys have to record - feel free to let me know and can see how easy it would be to add to the site/app.

Your suggestions sound good, and I'll be updating the app soon, need to focus on the site at the moment and we've got to migrate our servers, but new stuff will be in the app soon!

Topic: Site Development / DAFNE Online iPhone application - help with content/design needed

Hiya...

It's been a bit since I was logged in here and just been reading some of the suggestions and the ketones strikes as a good idea as does the "own food" list. To go one step further - or perhaps sideways - could the own food be submitted to the website and ance approved be added to the iphone as an update to the app itself?!? Or am I simply taking broken bicuits?

That aside, I've just started on a pump and as such gone back to pens and paper for a while. Can't even start to say how much I miss the ease and convenience of the DAFNE app, but there's a lot more to log in pump use at least while in the testing phase. I've also enjoted and taken a wee bit of pride in being able to contribute a few ideas along with others. I still use the carbs list for working out my lines when I'm stuck though, so I do keep my eye in on occasions.

Thanks for the massive amount of effort and time you've spent on this Simon & co... Don't suppose you fancy tailoring one to work for pumpers do you? You know, when yoou've got a few minutes spare?!? Heheheh.

Topic: General Discussion / Not impressed :-S

Whoever prescribed the metformin to you again, I would speak to them straight away, Jo. Were they not aware of the serious side effects from your previous experience?

Your sugar levels are high yet you're weight gaining? You must be very unbalanced.... were you possibly a Type 2 before?

Sorry to hear your team have not got back to you quickly. It may be a good idea to book an appointment or give them a call if you don't hear from them within a reasonable time (unfortunately it is a very busy time of year for hospitals so they may take some time... I'd give it a week, unless you feel you cannot cope).

Best wishes with getting well Jo.

Edit: Great advice LizB... definitely keep checking back at your guidebook!

Topic: General Discussion / Not impressed :-S

Hi Jo, sorry to hear you're struggling at the moment and feel you're team aren't supporting you. I think we've all had times like that and it is horrible when you're in the middle of it. By way of distant support I can assure you that we all go through it from time to time. I know it sounds obvious but I've found recently that going back to the DAFNE handbook and doing the things that I didn't really want to fit in (for me that was the 3a.m. check of BG to see what was happening overnight) and keep plugging away at it and sticking to the guidelines as much as possible, does slowly start to show results and things do move in the right direction. And of course the biggest thing is not to beat yourself up when it doesn't do exactly what you hoped straight away.

Going by your HABA1C it looks like you've got something to celebrate at the moment so trust yourself and keep plugging away.

all the best
Liz

Topic: DAFNE Online Mobile / Needlessly Repeated BG Results...

Unfortunately the phone does not have wifi support... however, even if it did, I would not have a wifi point to connect to while at work.

Phone details can be found here - Connectivity info is copied below:

Connectivity
Bluetooth: v2.0
Infrared: No
Wi-Fi (WLAN): No
USB: 2.0
Fax / Data: No

No pressure about the extra mobile site features - at least you've got it on your list! Smile

Edit:
Just to ask, can I add the rest of that test days results now? Am I okay to remove the duplicates?
If so, excellent - but feel free to ask me to test again if needed. Smile

Do you have wi-fi capabilities on your phone? If so could you try posting BG results on that, it will rule out any low signal issues.

Looking at the URL above it seems to be correctly formed - I'll check that the URL is working properly.

Yes the option to see your inbox messages should become available on the phone - it's on our to-do list which is quite big at the moment, and unfortunately it's a busy time of year in the day job (on a train as we speak, or write) but I hope to get some stuff done over Christmas.

Just had a thought - does that error message appear even though the test post was saved correctly?

Oops, disregard that question, I see you've answered it in your post above!

Topic: Questions for HCPs / Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong

Sorry it has taken me 4 days to get round to the promised fridge check.
The results of which sort of surprised me.
Please bear in mind that the digital oven thermometer used could hardly be considered calibrated and traceable to National Standards .... but with an ambient kitchen temperature of 23° C ... just finished cooking ... the temperature in my insulin storage area of the fridge had risen to + 7° C. Bottom of the fridge at this time was + 6° C ... a much lower variation than I expected to find Caimin. I had not bothered in the past to check temperature in the bottom of the fridge. Perhaps the fridge design is better than I expected. I have in the past physically noted the temperature variation across the fridge. So I think I turned down the fridge stat too much a few months ago and have hopefully adjusted it to a more suitable temperature now.
My thanks to you Caimin for getting me to check it out.
Regards
Garry

Topic: Carbohydrate Counting / Frozen oven chips

Hi - I eat the same oven chips and have relied upon the Dafne Carb list for my chips and this seems to work for me 100g = 3CP for cooked chips - and I usally weigh to double check what I'm having.

Topic: DAFNE Online Mobile / Needlessly Repeated BG Results...

I have posted to the forums fine, however, I get an error message.

I will do a post after this one that will be from my mobile. Once I've done it, I will edit this post to show exact error message I get (I have mentioned it briefly in this thread but nothing saying specifics).

Edit:
The error message says:

The requested URL ( http://www.dafneonline.co.uk/forums/5/topics/488.mobile?page=2) is not available on DAFNE Online. If you believe you have received this message in error please contact [email protected].

...and underneath this message it shows the main menu page (the one you get after the sign-in page). So whenever I've posted, I've had to go find the thread again. I do find that it posts my message though (as you can see from the mobile test post below).

Sorry for not emailing instead btw. Sad

Just to add, maybe it's worth looking at giving a post origin (mobile or PC) icon for each post? Saying that though, I'm sure you just get that info from the IPs when on the admin screen so maybe not. ^_^;

Will the option to see any inbox messages be added to the mobile site too? I cannot currently view them.

Thanks Simon!

Topic: DAFNE Online Mobile / Needlessly Repeated BG Results...

Hi JWo,

This is a strange one I'm afraid. I found the Requests in our log files and it seems like they were made in quick succession, with a 2 second interval in between each, which say to me your device isn't responding correctly to what the site sends back to it. Has this happened every time you've used the mobile site?

Also - can you try replying to this forum post on your phone? Just to see if your phone does the same thing on that. Don't worry about doing multiple posts - I can delete them if that happens.

Has anybody else on the forums had this behaviour?

Simon

Topic: Questions for HCPs / Pregnancy

How exciting - congratulations!

As for advice, unfortunately I've yet to one child, so I've had a look online at the nhs site for advice on Morning Sickness Treatment - hopefully this will help at least a little bit with the sickness side of things. Good luck!

I think it would be more up to you on the specialist front - but if they were a big help before, I would make sure you ask for the assistance, if you're not sure that you will get it.
It's a bit much to me for them to leave you to it just because you're on DAFNE if that was the case.

Topic: DAFNE Online Mobile / Needlessly Repeated BG Results...

I've usually done it while at work so somewhere between 11am and 2pm... sorry I cannot remember the exact times, I deleted the duplicate entries because I needed the spaces. Sad

I will do it and then post my day diary on this post.

EDIT:

I posted this one entry at around 10:50am today.

To add, the error message on the phone reads (after pressing send):

Error: Request exceeded maximum number of redirects

If you cannot post more than one entry on a minute - how odd that it's doing this!

Topic: DAFNE Online Mobile / Needlessly Repeated BG Results...

Hi JWo, I had a look and tested it with my phone and everything seemed OK. Can you give it another go? Do you get many results with exactly the same time? (This shouldn't happen as you can only create one per individual minute of the day). If you could also let me know around which time you did the test I'll take a look at the logs.

Cant offer any meaningful advice but I would expect you to recieve much more specialist care now your expecting, even though you have done DAFNE and are much more confident changing doses...........as the stories I have heard is that nothing make sense in terms of your blood sugars, your high then your low.......

As you have had two already I am sure you are the most qualified person to know how your body behaves in pregnancy.........

Get on to your diabetic team and good luck with it all.............

Topic: Questions for HCPs / Pregnancy

Hi I have just found out I am pregnant with my third child (I was diabetic throughout all of them)

Can you give me any tips on combating the sickness and nausea? Cant remember it being this bad. I have cut back on caffeine and drinking plenty of water.

Also, wondered which specialists would be involved in my care. Previously, before doing dafne, I had a diabetic nurse help with adjustments and diet on a week to week basis. would this now not be needed?

any thanks for your help. Caroline
