Topic: DAFNE Online Mobile / Needlessly Repeated BG Results...

Hi JWo,

This is a strange one I'm afraid. I found the Requests in our log files and it seems like they were made in quick succession, with a 2 second interval in between each, which say to me your device isn't responding correctly to what the site sends back to it. Has this happened every time you've used the mobile site?

Also - can you try replying to this forum post on your phone? Just to see if your phone does the same thing on that. Don't worry about doing multiple posts - I can delete them if that happens.

Has anybody else on the forums had this behaviour?

How exciting - congratulations!

As for advice, unfortunately I've yet to one child, so I've had a look online at the nhs site for advice on Morning Sickness Treatment - hopefully this will help at least a little bit with the sickness side of things. Good luck!

I think it would be more up to you on the specialist front - but if they were a big help before, I would make sure you ask for the assistance, if you're not sure that you will get it.
It's a bit much to me for them to leave you to it just because you're on DAFNE if that was the case.

Topic: DAFNE Online Mobile / Needlessly Repeated BG Results...

I've usually done it while at work so somewhere between 11am and 2pm... sorry I cannot remember the exact times, I deleted the duplicate entries because I needed the spaces. Sad

I will do it and then post my day diary on this post.

EDIT:

I posted this one entry at around 10:50am today.

To add, the error message on the phone reads (after pressing send):

Error: Request exceeded maximum number of redirects

If you cannot post more than one entry on a minute - how odd that it's doing this!

Hi JWo, I had a look and tested it with my phone and everything seemed OK. Can you give it another go? Do you get many results with exactly the same time? (This shouldn't happen as you can only create one per individual minute of the day). If you could also let me know around which time you did the test I'll take a look at the logs.

Cant offer any meaningful advice but I would expect you to recieve much more specialist care now your expecting, even though you have done DAFNE and are much more confident changing doses...........as the stories I have heard is that nothing make sense in terms of your blood sugars, your high then your low.......

As you have had two already I am sure you are the most qualified person to know how your body behaves in pregnancy.........

Get on to your diabetic team and good luck with it all.............

Seeing my 20 months old son peering over his cot smiling at me, when he should still be sleeping, loved the chance to see him before I go to work...............Smile

Topic: Questions for HCPs / Pregnancy

Hi I have just found out I am pregnant with my third child (I was diabetic throughout all of them)

Can you give me any tips on combating the sickness and nausea? Cant remember it being this bad. I have cut back on caffeine and drinking plenty of water.

Also, wondered which specialists would be involved in my care. Previously, before doing dafne, I had a diabetic nurse help with adjustments and diet on a week to week basis. would this now not be needed?

any thanks for your help. Caroline

Topic: General Discussion / Forums Have Gone Quiet

As of today there are 263 people registered with the site as HCP's. They may not all be active or logging in all the time and part of the issue is confidentiality. I think its just a culture thing that hopefully will gradually change, the problem is not always the HCP's but the management of the PCT's who have dictated that HCP's should not talk to patients on sites like this in fear of potential legal action. That doesn't stop everyone however and indeed there are some failry senior people within DAFNE posting on this site. I think we just have to give it time and hope that eventually people realise that there need not be huge legal implications with giving general advice to patients via the internet. Lets face it there are plenty of people who are willing to give adive who don't have a clue what they are talking about. I'm not referring to anyone on here or diabetics in general just the internet in general. I have read some seriously dangerous and mis-leading 'medical advice' on the net, its much better to get advice from real medical staff.
Still as I say, if we keep plugging away, eventually things will change we just need to wait....

Okay many thanks Simon. It's great that I can post on the forum on it, but it would be great to be able to post BGs on the go too! Smile
Let me know if or when you'd like me to test it again.

Hi JWo, I've not noticed any errors in our logs, but will do some investigation for you over the weekend.

Topic: General Discussion / Forums Have Gone Quiet

We presented DAFNE Online at the DAFNE Collaborative earlier this year - told them all about it and the benefits, and there were about 120 DAFNE Educators/Doctors/Dieticians there. There was really positive feedback on the day, and we even got some more HCPs signed up too.

The problem is that they are stretched to the maximum so I should imagine that it's pretty difficult for them to log on to the site. We did try and make it easier for them by having a dedicated forum for HCP questions, so they can direct their viewing there.

If your DAFNE Educator's aren't signed up to the site, get them in touch with us ([email protected]) and we can get them signed up as HCP's.

Also if you think of any other ways to help them get more involved, let us know.

Topic: General Discussion / accu-check

is any one else having problems refilling the prescription for the bg test strip cassettes for the accu-chek mobile meter, i have contacted roche diagnostics and they have stock so the problem seems to be with the wholesaler in my area at least. apart from that i am happy with the flexibility of the machine.

Topic: Questions for HCPs / Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong

thanks all. In retrospect, I think it was my Lantus dose - I've upped it to 30 and things seem to be grand now. I don't really understand why 22 was fine for the DAFNE week and it's gone up now, but the main thing is that things have resolved themselves. Is 8 units a big change? I'm not really used to adjusting doses, so maybe it's a minor thing, and I just think that an adjustment of 8 is a bigger deal than it is.

I'm on lantus and novarapid and store it in the middle compartment of the fridge door as per Dafne instructions. The information leaflet enclosed with both N/R & lantus say to store them between 2 - 8 celcius & not too near the freezer section or cooling element (where ever that is ). I agree with Garry that cold does drop to the bottom. Good to hear that your problem was resolved.

Topic: General Discussion / What made you smile today?

Today I was carefully baby stepping along an icy path and passing a couple walking the other way when the girl slipped on the ice and fell. Her boyfriend tried to help and started to pull her up but he slipped and fell too, knocking her back down onto the path and landing on top of her. They both couldn't get up off the ground because they were laughing so much. That made me smile.

Hi guys, just thought I'd give a very early update. It looks like things are better today, bloods at lunchtime were 5 and after carb free dinner were 7. I think possibly my n/r was compromised and the lantus was doing all the work. I'll come back in a day or so to confirm. Nice having the backup here, hope I can pay it forward soon.
