Topic: Site Development / Online BG Diaries Hi Simon ...Thought there might be a simple solution to hand for those in the know; but two for the price of one .. can't be bad. Thanks, John |

Hi I think they're probably about 1cp. It might be worth checking on the ready made stuff in the supermarket if they have something similar you could use the cp value from the packaging as a guide? From what people tell me i think there are two main reasons why people have hypos after a takeaway 1) difficulty in correctly estimating cp's and 2)Often takeaways are quite high in fat so the glucose from the meal is released quite slowly into the blood, even though the total cp value of the meal is often high, some people find that giving a split dose of QA insulin helps. |

Topic: Site Development / Online BG Diaries Hi John,Depending on the web browser you use you should be able to press the tab key to move through the text fields, and when you get to the drop-down box for type you can use the arrow keys (usually underneath/around the Enter keys on your keyboard) to select the type. You should then be able to continue using the tab keys as normal. You are also able to press the first letter of a type when the type box is selected, and cycle through all types beginning with that letter. For instance, pressing B will cycle through 'Before Breakfast', 'Before Lunch' and 'Before Dinner'. Re the auto-date duplication, I'll look into this and see what we can do there for you. Simon I'll look into the date |

Topic: Site Development / Graphs - now I can really see the difference Simon - what can I say? The new charts are exactly what I had in mind! Like Karen, I find it much easier to see the patterns on the individual graphs (perhaps its just the way my "brain" works), so thank you very, very much!Stew |

Topic: Site Development / Online BG Diaries Hello All Diarists..Thinking about speed of multiple entries to the diary, the item that slows me up most is the allocation of Type of entry (eg Before Dinner) as need to use the mouse at that point rather than main keyboard. ( Or is there already another method?) How about some system which enables the continued use of the tab key to skip through the possible options on buttons and then possibly hit another specified key to select the required option, before tabbing on the comments? Or perhaps a numeric entry 1-8 might work better to select the Type? Another slight speed up would be auto Date duplication from previous row if (say) a 0 is typed in the Date. A bit quicker than CntlC then CntlV’s. Food for thought possibly, Cheers John |

Topic: Site Development / Graphs - now I can really see the difference Wow these new graphs are amazing!!You can see so much more information now and I have really had my eyes opened on my results for the last week. It is much easier to see patterns on these individual graphs and I know that they will help me loads in the coming weeks. I have been trying to decide over the last couple of days whether to split my background Lantus insulin as I thought that maybe it was starting to run out during the course of the day - I usually take in one dose at 9pm. Now seeing the information more clearly on these graphs I have decided that I will take the plunge and hopefully get more on target results at the same time. Thanks for such a useful website! Karen |

Topic: General Discussion / Swine Flu Hi Sam, I have been for my normal flu jab this morning and was advised that the swine flu vaccine should be available at the end of this month. I was told that they still didn't know how much was going to be available to each GP practice but that they felt that diabetics would definately be one of the first groups to receive the vacine. It is probably better to contact your GP practice to find out whether this is the same across the country.Karen x |

Topic: General Discussion / Ratios I would certainly agree with splitting the BI. I am on Lantus but still found that a split dose makes it much easier to control whats going on with the BI. I would split that first and then get to work on trying to reduce the hypos as these may possibly be the cause of the higher readings even if Minesh isn't over compensating. |

Topic: General Discussion / Ratios EveryoneOf course you're right. One change at a time. Minesh should eliminate the hypos first and once they're gone or at least reduced then make any further changes if required. |

Topic: General Discussion / Ratios I think Minesh needs to come on and tell us whether he/she is over treating hypos therefore the higher readings in the morining, and or hypos due to exercise etc or eating extra CPs at night due to the fear a hypo in the morning and yes the possibility of hypo at night hence higher readings. It's good to see different views and I'm not saying I'm right in the advice I give it's how I'm reading it from the evidence so please don't think I'm having a go...I'm not!Sam |

Topic: General Discussion / Ratios Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but 3 mornings out of 3 the BG's are high and there are multiple hypos all day. I'm a big advocate of splitting the BI. I still maintain split the BI and reduce it. Although a night time hypo could give a morning high as well. |

Topic: General Discussion / Ratios Sam's hit the nail on the head here - this site is for people to share and help each other. This extends to not only people who have completed the course, but DAFNE Educators, Doctors, Friends, Family - pretty much everyone who is involved in one way or another. If you look at a users's name you can see what their 'level' is - regular users are in black, DAFNE Graduates are in blue, HCPs are in orange and site admins (mark and myself) are green. This helps to see what the background of anyone in the forums is, so bear that in mind when acting on advice. But this is great to see - keep up the good work guys! Simon |

Topic: General Discussion / Swine Flu What has everybody else heard with regards to the swine flu vacination? My GP says the manufacturer has not released it, yet Diabetes UK says we will become priority to get it and to arrange with your GP. I work in the NHS and starting to wonder what scottish practices are telling patients to english? |

Topic: General Discussion / Ratios I would say it was beneficial for HCPs to get involved everyone has an opinion and bascially this is what this site is for, for us to share our stories and to get advice along the way. |
