Topic: General Discussion / Freestyle Libre I have been using Libre for 2-3 years. I now have Libre 2 and have stopped finger prick. Good points are that it is very convenient, my fingertips are alive again and the alarms can be helpful especially for low BG. Cons are finger pricking is more accurate, there can be variations between finger prick BG and Libre especially in higher BG, the alarms can be intrusive, and I feel my control is not as good as on finger prick. Hope this helps. My approach now is to use Libre to show trends in daily BG but have finger prick checks first thing and before bed. |

Topic: General Discussion / Freestyle Libre Thanks Warwick, I’ll do that next time, but it did seem to settle down after the first day. It’s certainly much easier than finger pricking! Just to warn you to check that they have sent you FL 2 and not original ones. Looking at comments on the internet it looks like they have done the same to a lot of people. Presumably trying to dispose of old stock and hoping no one will notice, or is that just me being cynical?! 😂 |

Topic: Questions for HCPs / I between blood glucose levels Pretty much anything affects blood glucose levels. This site https://diatribe.org/42-factors-affect-blood-glucose-surprising-update lists 42 possible contributors to changing blood glucose levels and although menopause isn't mentioned, changes in hormone levels will have an effect on them.Like you, when I tried CGM, I was amazed to find that while my BGLs before meals were mostly within range, but after meals could go sky high - 17 mmol/L was not uncommon. I switched from high-carb cereal for breakfast to scrambled eggs, and had lovely flat lines after that. Alternatively you can try taking your insulin 20 minutes earlier so that the peak of the insulin action matches the peak of the blood glucose levels. With the Libre, you have the options available to play around a bit and see what effect that has on your BGL graphs. It may also be that a different insulin type would suit you better. This document shows the different insulin profiles available and may be helpful in finding an insulin type that will allow you to have the insulin act faster after meals, but not affect you during the night. https://www.diabetes.org.uk/resources-s3/2017-10/University%2520Hospitals%2520of%2520Leicester%2520-%2520Insulin%2520Profiles.pdf Hope that helps. |

Topic: General Discussion / Freestyle Libre You might want to check the expiry date in case the sensor has expired. They have a reasonably short shelf life of 6 months.I haven't used mine yet. I am just using up the last few sensors for the Dexcom G4, then I will give this one a try as it is much cheaper than the Dexcom G6. |

Topic: General Discussion / Freestyle Libre After the first day it seems to have settled down and is close to BG readings. However, I ordered the Freestyle Libre 2, as that gives you alarms if BG is way out of the target range, but after attaching the sensor, realized that they have sent me Freestyle Libre which doesn’t. Very annoyed and still waiting for a reply to an email asking for a replacement.![]() |

Topic: General Discussion / Using Garmin Edge Cycle Computers and Smart Watches with Freestyle Libre I do a bit of cycling and I see that Garmin have introduced some means where some of their cycling computers can be linked to Freestyle Libre sensors and I was just wondering if anyone had any experience of this. |

Topic: General Discussion / Freestyle Libre Does anyone else use this? I decided to give it a try as thought it would make life easier. So far the readings have been way different from BG readings (I thought I would check if they were similar). BG was 14.7 and Libre said it was 8.2. Libre 3.3 and BG was 6.7. Hardly accurate! Has anyone else had this problem? It’s a very expensive way of getting your BG readings totally wrong! Just wondered if it’s just me! |

sorry any kind of calculation means the app is deemed a medical device and has to be certified. This a long and expensive process and we can't afford to do it. We tried putting it in the app and people informed the medical regulator and we were forced to take it out again. We can't afford the legal costs of going against their instruction to remove it. |

Hi I have completed the DAFNE course and have recently started using a libre sensor. This is fantastic and I am checking my blood sugar levels far more now. My levels before meals are god and most of the time in range however I between they can go very high. Shod I be concerned about this? Also I have been having far more hypos during the might (the alarm wakes me up,) I have reduced my BI but still having hypos. I am currently of an age where I am going through the menopause and wondered if this would have an impact on my blood glucose levels. |

Topic: General Discussion / Dosage auto-calculation in apps Hi There,App related: I know there has been massive changes in the regulations, but could you use that part of the app as a "Aid Tool" or"as reference" type idea to help us for calculating? over and out |
