Really?, this sounds interesting, why would you put sugar in vegetable stock?

I don't put sugar in my home made stock. However I have no idea why there is sugar in a stock cube. All the ones I have have it in. Confused

Digging a hole for myself now. When we were kids my mum used to make us veggi stock for bonfire night. She'd kid us it was soup. A small stock cube is not the same but only 0.9 carbs is not too bad and you get a couple of cups out of it. other ideas, fruit teas nettle tea or a dry mulled wine. Ok hole definitely deeper.
