Having done this for nearly forty years I have occasionally noticed people staring, horrified at me. I don't care! Whilst I do my best to keep a low profile when doing injections in case there are sensitive souls about, I feel that those who don't like it should thank their God that they don't have a life-threatening condition which requires them to stick needles in themselves several times a day. Remember, you are as good as anybody else and probably better than a lot of them. You have nothing to be ashamed about. |

In my opinion, the longer you have Diabetes, the easier it gets...........................Sometimes I can't be bothered with my injection, and sometimes very rarely I may eat something and not bother to take insulin for it...................but I am now motivated to keep my injections going because of DAFNE, and by that I mean, if I do miss it, then my blood sugars wont make sense................and I like to know why the numbers on my sheet are what they are. This is what DAFNE has done to me, and its good. |

I have been type for 20years now - and I have always, when out and about, injected in public - in my view, and it is only my view, I have to inject, they don't have to look. To be honest I have never had any adverse reaction from anyone and I have never noticed anyone being affected - although I couldn't care less about them and so am not looking. The times I have had a reaction, it has always been curiosity and has opened up a discussion about diabetes and its control. Most non diabetics are unaware - not surprisingly, of how the condition is controlled and what to do if they come across a diabetic in difficulties, and so I feel these discussions are for the good as they help educate people. |
