Hello Sue,
Don't think they are. I have the (vague) recollection of one of the instructors at DAFNE mentioning that they weren't.

I buy my glucotabs from Boots, sometimes I haven't been able to find them on the shelves but if you go to the counter they will order them for you from their catalogue and tell you when they have been delivered, then you just pay when you collect. I've never found them in my local Asda.

glucotabs are not on prescription - Asda do them, but I think it has to be the bigger Asdas, in the 10 tablets and 50 tablets containers, my local Boots does them in the handy 10 tablet containers, and my local independent chemists have agreed to stock the 50 tablet containers for me.

The medical shop have just started stocking a key ring that has a container which holds 4 glucotabs. Received an e-mail from them the other day and have ordered a couple to try. The 10 tablet tubes are great but I think this key chain idea will be a wonderful alternative. I always have keys on me but seem to spend ages trying to locate a 10 tablet tube at times before i leave the house!

I've still only really seen them in ASDA... bought both the tubes and the pot now! The pot was very hard to open when I went hypo so I recommend opening it before the next potential hypo situation. ^_^;

Considering you can't get them on prescription I will be looking into buying online... bulk buying saves a lot of money generally and I keep finding my local ASDA are out of stock! Sad

Last year during DAFNE, it was suggested that Glucotabs should be available on prescription, but think it depends on your GP, as one of the people could get them while the rest of us couldn't.
If you have trouble getting them, use these PIP Codes and ask a Pharmacist to order them.
Orange x10 = 324-1866
Orange x50 = 324-1841
Raspberry x10 = 324-1858
Raspberry x50 = 324-1833
