hmm your worst years seem to be your teenage years, I just can't imagine why Wink I always tell people how thankful I am that I didn't develop my Diabetes until I was in my 30's when my rock'n'roll years where all behind me. I meet so many people who were 'off the rails' in their teenage years and its not hard to imagine why.
It does show however 30 years and hopefully only a minor complication so its not inevitable that complications occur. Nice to see you Hb1Ac drop after the course as well, another happy DAFNE customer Very Happy

Wow those readings are amazing! To have kept at those levels over such a long period of time is really good and you must be really proud of yourself!! I was diagnosed in 1981 at the age of 10 and it would be interesting to be able to find out past HbA1 readings, how did you manage to get this information?

Well done Smile

Its amazing some of the attitudes HCP had back then, I have never been below 7.9, but I dont get moaned at as its hard, even with 110% effort........and also harder back in the day when even the HCPs understanding was limited in comparison to the likes of the DAFNE principals..............

Thanks for that Sarah, think I might have a look into it.

Like your comment about the lie detector machine, how true is that!! Its good to see that others have ups and downs too. 30+ years is a long time to be good all the time isn't it Wink

I managed to get my HbA1 down to 6.7 following my DAFNE course 2 years ago and this was classed as a normal level but now it has crept back to 8.1 which I am told is only 'average'. To be honest I think that the guidelines have definately reduced over the years and they are now asking for lower levels to be maintained (in an ideal world!!). You seem to be doing well at the moment though so keep up the good work. I am back to blood testing before each meal in the quest to reduce my HbA1 further and become 'normal' again lol!

Good luck Very Happy

I've never mentioned in percentages. What is 6.7% compared to mmol?

I have been lucky enough to have a copy of all my medical records, after reading them I discovered recordings of my Hb1Ac results. I was diagnised with T1 diabetes in 1979, I was 11yrs old, I have had T1 diabetes for 32yrs.
I graduated from DAFNE in November 2009 and my next Hb1Ac test is booked for the end of this month. The worst time of my diabetic life is when I was taken off Actrapid/Monotard and put on Humulin between 2006-2009.

I thought these results were a matter of fact and thought I'd share them with you. Very Happy
1984 is when I discovered alcohol lol!

That's interesting Sara. I thought I would point out to patients in Scotland that they can register to get their results on - line.
Google My diabetes myway if interested. Once registered all HBa1C, blood pressure, cholesterol etc, results from previous years are available to you , and like SAra you can see trends over the years.

Been a little off track of late and not done the testing that I should have been and my HbA1 has increased from my previous post DAFNE 6.7% to 8.1%,

So I am now back to testing before each meal again .... back on track ..... onwards and upwards from here!!!! Laughing
