It will most likely help you in the morning due to the overlap.....

Thanks. Sorry yes did the overnight on Wednesday. I was 4.1 going to bed at 10pm and at 3am i was 3.4 then at 6am 2.5. I had had 8 cps for my dinner at 1950 with BG 4.8. Nearly sure now i took 2 qa that i shouldn't have because i counted weight watchers spaghetti as 2 when i should have just counted the of which sugars which would have been zero.

Hi Rafa.

A couple of points:
1. I'm sure you would need to count the total carbs in the Weight Watchers spaghetti, not just the of which sugars.
2. It's not a great idea to test out your BI when you're going to bed on a BG that's below target - at 4.1mmol/l you're nearly 2.5mmol/l below which is unsafe to go to bed on. Did you have any CPs then to get into target?.
3. Did you treat the BG of 3.4mmol/l at 3am? This is a hypo. You were still hypo at 6am and this is worrying because running BG like this will affect your ability to recognise hypos.

Please be careful not to accept BG results that are below 4.5mmol/l and remember:
BG 3.5 or below............ TREAT as a hypo with 1.5 - 2 CPs rapid acting carbs
BG between 3.5 - 4.5......EAT CPs to get back into target

Thanks Carolin. Struggling myself but am really trying to get it right. So if i took my BI at 6 in the morning and then between 10-11 in the evening it shouldn't be a major problem?

That's perfect as it'll give you 7 - 8 hrs in between night and morning doses

nothing to add to Carolin's response, although I am unclear about the 'of which sugars' bit when your counting carbs.....

you need to count the total carbs and just ignore the 'of which sugars' bit..........

Hi Carolin,

Many thanks for the replies. No stupidly i didn't treat any of them. Crazy really. Will try again tonight to get into range nad do a 3am. I have all my recordings etc recorded so will wait until Monday and post my last weeks readings to see what people think. Last night for example i was 4.2 at 1930 so had 10cps in Nandos and took 10-2 qa. Two hours later i had a two fingered kit kat and took 1 cp of qa. I didn't do my suagrs at this stage. Then at 2220 i was 2.3 and took 1cp of quick acting. I took my BI at this time. Then at 2310 i was 3.6 so had 1.5 cp (slice of brown toast). At 0030 i was 4.3 so went to sleep. Got up at 0630 and was 8.8. At 0830 having my breakfast i was 11.9 so had 4.5 cps and took my qa ration 1.5/1 + 1 qa adjustment. Will see how i fair out for the rest of the day.

Many thanks again.

Sorry i got mixed up with that bit. On DAFNE they told me not to count the carbs in beans when they had no added sugars but it wasn't beans i ate last night so i got mixed up but as it turns out i did count the spaghetti! Appreciate all the replies.

Great that you reduced your QA for your Nandos as your BG was below target Smile
But at 22.20 you were hypo and you need AT LEAST 1.5 CPs to treat this which might explain why you were still low at 23.10.

It's a lesson for everyone not to get complacent about low readings and treatment of hypos, especially as there are increased chances of having driving licences revoked if you develop hypo unawareness or have severe hypos.

Yes until DAFNE i would have been lax about the driving rules etc with regards to BG levels.
