hi I have just started to use my icare machine, unfortunately i have to have my licence renewed every year and to comply with the DVLA regulations which says "Applicants with insulin treated diabetes will need to have used a blood glucose meter with a memory function to measure and record blood glucose levels for at least THREE MONTHS, prior to submitting their application. Unfortunately this machine only holds a maximum of 30 days 1 month average test results assuming you do not test yourself more than 3 times a day. This machine has not got the capability of downloading or bluetooth the results, a very outdated machine, compared with one i used 3 years ago. I have looked on the website and cannot see an alternative from iCare, but have emailed them. So guys be warned about the requirements from DVLA your machine does not comply with the legislation.

I was moved on to that iCare machine as well... http://www.dafneonline.co.uk/forums/1/topics/1815
I don't remember the DVLA requesting to see any results when I last put my licence in for renewal. Is this a fairly new thing?
I do get where you're coming from though. Makes me glad I now use mainly the diary facility on this site by use of the smartphone app to keep it regularly updated on the go. I now no longer carry a paper diary as a result.

Not strictly true. The DVLA are apparently saying that all Diabetics 'may' have their meter checked for all licenses. I would not be too worried though since this is apparently only in rare circumstances. Personally I think it is an intrusion into private information and none of their business. It would be interesting to see if any one challenges this if they try to withdraw anyones license based on this information. Firstly I don't see how they can demand access to it and secondly a meters readings could easily be fabricated and don't show severe hypo's. I don't know about you but if I was to need assistance for a hypo I'm not going to be using my blood meter am I ? I'm not going to know what the hell is going on. The whole idea is just bizzare and sums up the DVLA who are happy to sell your personal data to anyone who will pay but then think they can invade your privacy. Just say no

It applies to my 7.5 ton entitlement that requires a yearly medical. I thought it was no longer permitted to discriminate against a disability ???? Under the DDA. Disability Discrimination Act.
