Hi Jenny, was all geared uo for the long training ride Saturday, before slowing down the training, all going well when 13kms in I had a blow out. No spares, so call back up and that was the end of that! Having said that, training has gone really well and the fundraising support has been brilliant.
You're going to think me really fussy but creamed rice I hate, reminds me of school dinners. Going for jacket potato with beans and cheese. Background insulin has been nearly halved and think I will miss it out altogether on the night.
Think the team you refer to are local to me in High Wycombe and are linked to Sir Stephen Redgrave, the rower and Olympian. My diabetic nurse pointed me in their direction, although I found it very scientific.
Thanks for your interest and good wishes.

Thanks for all the help. Did the ride Saturday night and all went well. Heaped on the carbs all day Saturday with jacket potato and macaroni pie. didn't take any background insulin Saturday night. Checked blood every 20kms or so. Maintained a level of around 9, which I was very happy with. Hardly drank at all, less than 1 bottle of water and no Coka Cola - which was my sugar rush - ate a sandwich half way around and a couple of high carb energy bars which were brilliant.
Great sense of pride having finished, 105kms, total riding time 5hrs 55 mins and £2,000 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer. Always worried about exercise but no more.

hey mate - neat to hear your ride went well. I do think, though, that any cyclist would be mortified about the lack of fluid but sounds as if everything went really well. I had a laugh about your creamed rice comment. We dont do school dinners here in NZ (Jamie Oliver would be so pleased!) so i only have fond memories of it. All the best for your next challenge.

Well done Vic! Very Happy
Glad the ride went well and you raised £2000 for a very worthwhile cause.

All the best,
Anele.

I would just keep my thumbs on the handle bars. It pays to keep your mind on the games at hand. It's a hell of an achievement though... that's from the Uxbridge area, all the way to Nottingham, or perhaps even Didcot...amazing Shocked

Well done Wink

So good Sneaker that I am doing it again this year with a team of 15, but then I guess you already know that. Arrow
