Hi Jenny, I was diagnosed at the age of 10, 43 years ago and since then have done carbohydrate counting, 1 unit of QA (actrapid at the time) lowered me 1mmol and 10g of carbohydcrates increased my mmol by 1 mmol....... that worked briiantly for a long time until I was forced to change insulin, from Monotard and Actrapid to more modern inulins. I was dubious about the DAFNE course, however, I learnt a lot. I know how to count carbohydrates and read packets, however I learnt more about going slowly and how the insulin works, and the fact that other diabetics are going through the same as me! Good luck, we are all in the same boat and letting off steam on here is a great help. I've recently learnt how a woman's cycle affects her BG results and I'm working on finding a pattern....You take care, Christine, Dafne graduate from Northnumerland
