I know where you are coming from Christine and respect your opion as its pretty much each to their own. From my point of view I refuse to be pushed into toilets etc to inject. I am very open about my diabetes and try to educate people. I didnt ask for it nor did i engage in a lifestyle liable to cause diabetes. I have diabetes I have to live with it and nothing or noone will stop me living life to the full. I suppose the press dont help matters though as they put across that diabetes is purley caused by an unhealthy lifestyle which we know is not always the case.

Well we know its actually never the case, at least for Type 1s, and actually Type 2s have a disposition to it also..........

Its the difference between the 2 types that need to be put out there.............as long as the diabetics know the score I am happy............. Wink

I am not so sure the pump is more discreet. Every time I eat I do a blood test, drag out the pump enter the carbs and the Bg count up the units etc and press the button. It certainly takes longer than just doing a mental calculation and winding it up. In my experience more people are familiar with insulin injections but the sight of a pump and the plastic tube disappearing into you somewhere is cause for curiosity. If I cop a stare I simple say "it keeps me alive!" Some ask what it is but most are embarrassed!
In Australia we don't have multiple layers of clothes issue to deal with, My theory is if you do it quickly then less people notice.
