One of the subjects that the DAFNE User Action Group (DUAG) is investigating is the type of follow-on training being offered to graduates, and whether it meets your needs. Were you offered any meetings or training after the DAFNE course itself? Whilst there is a standard DAFNE course which is offered initially, there seems to be less consistency in what help is offered after that. |

Done the survey - after a year of doing DAFNE - and enjoying it, I would love a follow up - my training centre has offered it, however, I have moved a long way away from it and it is too far to travel now. My new GP does do DAFNE, but the training centre was a large teaching hosp with the resources and staff to offer a very good service - the GP's surgery is obviously smaller with less resources, staff and time. |

Hi Simon, I'm a bit confused by your response. Your GP does DAFNE ? Generally DAFNE is run at DAFNE Centres which are hospitals like the one you did your course at. Hence my confusion by your reference to your GP doing it. Do you mean they do something similiar to DAFNE or that they actually run courses under the umbrella of one of the DAFNE Centres ? Where is the GP in the UK ? Just curious |

My centre has not offered anything as far as I know, but I would like to meet up with my old classmates, and any other graduates to talk about how the course has developed and to discuss our own control observations, help each other out........... |

I did DAFNE at Monklands back in 2008 and have had regular follow ups. At 3 months after the same group got back together to see how we'd come on and share success stories or just how it was going for us. At 6 months I was asked at my regular appointment how DAFNE was working and we both decided I was doing fine. 1 year later I got an afternoon refresher with a bunch of strangers and this was good for me to see how people I hadn't done the course with coped. The times we did our courses were different 2008, 2009 so I don't know if it's a regular thing or not. A couple of months ago I got a letter asking if I wanted to take 1 of 3 different refreshers which from memory were carb counting, exercise and sick days. I had to decline as the times weren't suitable but if they are taking time to go over specifics instead of a general overview of everything then I think that's beneficial. |

Marke My GP is also a Diabetic specialist (part time) at a hospital, she runs the diabetic group at the surgery, and was very pleased I had done the Dafne course prior to my arrival at the surgery as she believes in its philosophy. The surgery itself does not run Dafne courses. Sorry for the confusion |

If follow on training is offered. Are you allowed to go if you have moved away and are under a different PCT? |

Would you like people who have done Dafne from outside of England (I'm from NZ) to do the survey, too? |
