WOW!!

My HB1AC was 9.6% in August.

Just had my DSN ring me specially to let me know the result, already back from my blood test done yesterday, it was......6.8%! Very Happy
I don't know how because my bs results at home are always all over the place!

Something which doesn't make sense to me is that when my HbA1c is this good why when i look back at my bs results are they all over the place?

It's just an averaged out snapshot........so high results with a good few lows could bring you down lower........ideally you want stable sugars with as little spikes as possible to reduce damage to the micro vascular system.....getting the balance between in range sugars and stable is the hard part though

We need to get used to using the new numbers for HbA1C.
What about some encouragement for you to use them - just a bit of fun - who can tell me in old numbers my HbA1Cs since I did DAFNE?
11/11/2009......................................61
08/04/2010......................................52
22/07/2010......................................53
12/10/2010......................................54
15/11/2011......................................52

Cool. How did you work this out? I was told at my last review in Nov that the HbA1c was changing but have forgotten how the new way is calculated?
Thanks, Anele Smile
