I'm sure that most of us who use this site are aware (and like me - concerned) about the cost of the various products we get on prescription - especially in these times of cuts and shortages. Most test strips, for instance, cost about £25 per pot of 50.

There is a meter on the market, evidently, where the cost is only £12.95 per pot. The meter is called a CareSens meter. Their website address is www.caresens.co.uk and the meters are available free of charge.

I should point out that I have no connection with this company and that I have no knowledge of this meter. Has anybody used a CareSens meter? If so, what do they think of it?

This concerns me as well

I use the iPhone app so don't need all all fancy features on many machines, basically they all do the same job so why such a price difference?

You are actually having to pay for supplies?

That is mad, all supplies are supposed to be covered by EU healthcare directives. You should never have to pay for strips or anything else.

I have used the Care Sens, it is a back up for the One Touch, when Im travelling as it isnt always possible to get One Touch strips. I bought it in Australia but dont know if you can get strips in the UK.

The Care Sens works fine, it isnt fancy, I also use the iPhone app, and the meeter itself, the CareSens POP is one of the smallest Ive seen.

I think I will start using it as my main meter now as there seems such a price difference.
