Hi. My name is Chris. I’ve just joined DAFNE online.
Unless I’m looking at this wrong, I can’t see any recent discussions on this forum? If that’s the case, what a shame! I was hoping to connect with and learn from other Type 1 Diabetics. I also think I could help others with my own experiences etc.
Hopefully there are others out there willing to chat Smile

Hi Chris,
Yes things are pretty quiet I'm afraid. We still keep the site going for people to use or app or to access the online hadbooks, however not many people seem to use the forums now. Its hard to compete with Social Media and other dedicated forum sites. I haven't checked the forums myself in a week or so as I am trying to get an Android version of our app tested and released....

Hi Marke,
I’m glad you are keeping it going. Maybe DAFNE needs an Instagram profile? If you can’t beat them, join them Wink

Hi Chris, I would agree that the site seems to lack any serious activity. I became a Dafne graduate back in 2011 during which time I was able to access a huge amount of information that seemed to be quite secret, and the centre that I went to was led by a true professional who was so knowledgeable and approachable - unfortunately she no longer has a part within the scene that I can find. I imagine that she has retired - and the centre has to try and compensate for this. I was very unwell at the time of the course, but they helped me out so much and the benefits have helped me get on with it with new ways to live.
I wish you the best and maybe we chat here in the future. I have this week just started pump therapy - a game changer so far !
Kind Regards, John.

Hi John,
Thanks for the reply. It’s good to hear you are doing well.
I’m interested to hear how the move to a pump has been a game changer for you? It’s something I have always been reluctant to try. I’ve never liked the idea of having something permanently attached to me. Getting used to a CGM sensor was a big step for me!
I’m doing pretty well with traditional injections, but I’m sure the day will come where a pump is the better option.
Wishing you all the best.
Chris

Good luck with the pump therapy John H😀. It was a game changer twice for me ! First getting a pump which helped with my overnight control. Second time was getting a Tandem Tslim2, which is closed loop i.e it links to my dexcom. It’s sleep mode means EVERY morning my BG’s are well in range without me doing anything. It’s not completely perfect 24/7 yet but my HB1ac is so good my consultant keeps telling me not to try so hard and I’m not ! It just works for me. Yes you have to get used to an attached device all the time but it’s really not that hard. I wear the pump in a mini camera bag on my belt all day and clipped to my bed clothes at night. I would 100% recommend it 😁
