Hi there, I have been doing dafne for almost 5 years now, and an overall success for me apart from dawn phenonoms (which have accepted just one of those things). My long term blood test doctor happy with and lost weight through gym and eating when want, and not go treat. Been thinking for a while of getting a tattoo, and being doing lot of research, think midlife crisis but cheaper than sports car. I have urticaria (aka stinging nettle rash) I have not had a flare up for few years now think due to better control, and general health as tends to flare up when ill(infection) of run down. Just want some advice so I don't make a mistake that will live to regret, with flare up or it permently returning. Just feel it's something I want to tick of bucket list. Any help or advice appreciated??

Hi Ketostix pla,
Great to hear things are going well. I do feel a bit nervous of someone having a tattoo done especially with a history of urticaria. I can always remember someone I met years ago who had a terrible reaction to one of the tattoo coloured inks on an arm tattoo design. As I remember they needed help from a plastic surgeon to help and even this intervention was not the end of his problems. There are several different types of urticaria, some related to an allergy or sensitivity to a particular substance but in so called "idiopathic" urticaria it is not possible to find the exact cause. Certain factors such as heat, cold, local pressure ( e.g. from a bag carrying strap) emotional stress can be relevant. Sometimes there is a hereditary or family tendency to the problem. It might be worth seeking advice from your general practitioner regarding specific advice for yourself.
Best wishes

I suffer from idiopathic urticaria and dermagraphism too. Mine becomes really bad if I've been sunbathing. Anyway I haven't had a breakout for a couple of years now and I have had tattoos without any problems.

Always good to discuss with your derm doctor though.
