Hi,

I'm on holiday in Gran Canaria just now with the family (all inclusive hotel), I'm counting my carbs breakfast, lunch and dinner however my BG readings have been constantly high eg 18.4, 23.4 etc..this is despite correcting every time, the only thing my wife and I can think of is that estrella beer is very sugary, food has higher Carb content than back home or Pepsi light isn't light! (I've increased fast acting to test this to no avail),I've also increased overnight background from 17 to 20,still high in morning!

Any suggestions?

Thanks

the different temperatures, lets assume higher temperatures, lol, may be having an effect on the glucose secretion from the liver.

your body may be working harder to keep cool for example, so the way to tackle that is with your background insulin, both day and night if your on twice a day.....

I would say a 10% increase would be a good start, just make sure your always prepared for hypos......

I think its worth the risk inn order to get better sugars, as it can make you feel a lot better and energetic, which is what you need when on Holiday....

have fun and drop back in for an update.Smile

My BGs always go high on holiday. I don't exercise as much which really contributes to it. I often find that I need to drastically (up to 30%) increase my BI as a result.
