Hi,
This isn't so much a question as news. I have suffered from Dawn Phenomen for ages or so I thought, rising throughout the morning, not sure where I read it, but it was something similar to the fiollowing info...
http://www.joybauer.com/photo-gallery/best-foods-for-type-2-diabetes/Almonds.aspx
Basically Almonds slow the break down of carbs removing spikes which I think I was getting after breakfast rather than too much DP. I used to have Quaker oat so simple with semi-milk, changed this to Alpro Almond Unsweetened Milk (not the best tasting, but getting used to it) and for the last few weeks my BG has been between 4 and 8 which is unheard of for me
Following this I am now adding 10 - 20 Almonds prior to any main meal to see if this can cut other mealtime spikes.
Hope this info is useful to others.

nice.......have you tried to have a low carb, low gi breakfast to see/ confirm the DP?
obviously carb free would definitely confirm it.....
do you have these almonds before you go to bed to give you the 4 and 8 in the morning.........

I have tried low carb for breakfast and I seemed to get a rise by mid morning, but this was some time ago.
I originally tried to Almond milk, but have added raw Almonds before meals and bed, only a few, seems to be working, not sure if this is luck or not as only tried this for a few weeks.

Hi Guys,
A long while ago I was "told" to have 8 raw almonds with my oats at breakfast. So I have done for about 15 years. So breakfast is 20g quick oats, 125mL Trim milk, 1 small apple chopped and added to milk and oats and 8 almonds. Can not remember but I must have thought the advice made sense or I would not have adopted it as a mantra.

Slowing down the digestion for any diabetic in a sound tactic to reduce the spike on the blood sugars, so you heard right.......
And it can also be tackled with dose timing.....
I think with the DP effect all the stops should be out.....
I tend to have a small yogurt for breakfast because of the DP effect, even now with the pump dealing with it in the early hours, I still have the yogurt because of its small effect on the BG levels....
