just in case anyone has problems with thier bg readings after eating a jacket potato.i have previously always found that when i have had this for my evening meal the next morning i have woken up with bg above target and as aresult increased my ratio of q/a insulin.however what i found worked better was toi inject the q/a insuluin about an hour after i had finished eating to be a better solutuion. most other meals i still tend to inject straight after the meal but for some reason with the above this does not seem to be the case. if anyone else has this problem hopefully this might be some help.so now i use the same q/a ratio for this as i do for any other evening meal |

Slower digested foods, like jacket potato [the skins], and pizza can often benefit from a dose of insulin later on...... |

because i drive a bus for a living i am required by law to test my bg levels at least every 2 hours. as long as my bg is within target for my next meal then i feel i have matched my cps correctly. so depending how long the gap is between meals depends on how much q/a insulin that i take |

Your right, if you are on target by the next meal, your CPs will have been matched correctly, but it doesn't meant the digestion and insulin action has been matched correctly. Which may result in mid meal spikes in the high teens....... |
