Hi Everyone, Has anyone had their bosses say to them that because you are reporting bullying in the workplace, it's because there is a link between having Diabetes Type 1 and schizophrenia and bi-polar, and also it may be that you are having marital problems,
Please anyone reply,

no for me..........
in what context as this said to you..........?
was your boss trying to undermine your bullying claim by giving alternatives to why you are feeling this way..........? If yes, then he/she is a complete arseh0le........
it may just of been normal conversation if you have a good relationship with your boss........

Hi novorapidboi26, He said it to be undermining, he also said that we are prone to have mental illnesses and that they are well and truly deep in the brain and that we as diabetics wouldn't have a clue............................................................. And YES it was said because I have reported the bully........................................................... And he keeps on phoning me at home to make sure that I will turn up to meetings that no-one else knows about, this does not fill me with a good feeling as we well know we have a lot to deal with everyday as it is, it just seems that some have the wrong idea about us diabetics still............................................

Kay Is there an HR department where you work? If so, you should report this to them. Are you a member of a trade union - they would take this up. It's just not acceptable.

If they want to use that as an excuse, you should point out that means its even more reason to help you. It does sound like they are trying to discriminate against you and they're treading a serious line if you are Type 1.
Diabetes UK have a helpful advocacy pack for helping with these sorts of situations - particularly regarding your rights as a diabetic in employment.
Alan also very helpfully suggests getting in contact with your unison/union rep if you are a member. I agree with him.
Hope it all goes okay. Keep in mind that if nothing changes, your health will likely suffer.. and they have to help you. If they don't, they are breaking the law IMO.

Kay I would suggest that you join a union if you can and get this sorted. Not only is it discrimination it is bullying and harassment by your boss as well as the other individual. If you can't join a union then I suggest that you speak to Citizen advice. Richard
