Overnight and morning weird readings

Last night at bedtime for some unknown reason I was 15. I did a correction of 3 units QA and took my split dose of Lantus. This morning I was 15.1. Eh? Why did the QA bring it down?

Also the other morning I was 8.5 at 7.45 a.m. I decided to do a bit of an experiment so I got up and got washed, dressed so no insulin or food, and at 10am I was 11. So is this down to not having BI plus those morning hormones kicking in?

I'm not sure I understand your first question. You ask why the QA brought it down, but it went up slightly from 15 to 15.1, not down.

Second question, probably less due to the morning hormones, and more due to the liver releasing glucose which is why we need BI.

Cheers,
Warwick.

Oops yes I meant why DIDN'T the QA bring it down. I took the bedtime Lantus at the same time as the correction QA. Don't understand why it was exactly the same reading when I woke up.

Re the second question, the readings imply my bedtime BI is running out or has run out in that 2 hours from it being 8.5.

It is a bit hard to tell without seeing your diary. Are you able to share it? I can't tell from the above whether you had split your BI or not when you BGs rose that morning.

Thanks,
Warwick.

Where did you inject you BI and your quick. I only ask because lantus and quick acting insulin don't like each other so can't be injected in same place ie in buttock or abdo. I do my BI in my buttock and quick in stomach. Poss might be why your quick acting didn't work the other night
