How often should basal testing be done?

Usually, if your morning BGs are more than 1.5 different to your bedtime readings, and there is no obvious cause (exercise, stress, sickness, sneaky snack before bed), then you may want to look at modifying your BI.

Also, if you are having overnight hypos, then you may want to do some 3 am tests to find out what is going on there.

I would say once a month would be a good routine to get into.........

on Lantus there isn't much you can do if you find you need less overnight, but more during the day, people on a split dose could test at different points in the day and make a decision...
