The DAFNE User Action Group has raised a petition for governnent-funded eduucation programmes (which obviously includes DAFNE). Is everyone aware of this?
The link to the e-peittion is: http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/41345

Evidently they need 100,000 signatures.

Thanks to those who have completed the petition already. This is an initiative of the DUAG (the DAFNE User Action Group) which we're working on to try and promote the value of structured educations courses for both type 1 and type 2 diabetics. For most of us using this site this means DAFNE specifically which DUAG would like to see being readily available to everyone who wants it across the whole of the UK rather than the current "postcode lottery" where we have great centres and teams in some areas and nothing at all elsewhere.

As Alan says above the target is to get 100,000 signatures at which time the subject "should" be raised for debate in the House of Commons. So only roughly 99,400 signatures to go Smile However, there are over 10,00 users of this site alone, so we "only" need for everyone to sign, and get 9 others to do so and we'll be there. So as well as signing yourself, please encourage your partners, friends, family etc. to do so. As a reminder the link is http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/41345

Many thanks, and, if you have any comments on the text or the idea in general then please raise them here and we can discuss.

I saw this on twitter and signed it straight away... even got some non-diabetic pals to sign it too. I hope it's successful! ^_^

Alternatively all people passionate about this idea could make an appointement to go visit their MP in one of their local clinics and raise their awareness and ask them to raise the matter in the HOC and to lobby their constituency Health Authority for support.

Why not do both?

Only 1126 signatures so far - a long way off the target of 100,000

The DUAG team are meeting tomorrow, and how to increase the rate of signatures on the petition is one of the items for discussion. Any suggestions gratefully received.
