i was and am of the impression that as long as your blood glucose readings are within target at meal times then thats what matters.when i was recently on my DAFNE course a couple of weeks ago when i asked about taking readings between meals the nurse said why would i want to under normal circumstances? i used to (prior to dafne) take a reading 2 hours after a meal but apparently, unless i was pregnant, then there was no need to do this.the only timew i take readings now is when i am going to have a meal/snack to see if i need to make some corrections to my intended insulin dose.please if this is wrong can someone advise me as well as i am only a newbee to all this |

They are high between meals as your food is digesting and releasing glucose into the blood stream, this will always happen, the trick is trying to keep the 'spike' as its called as low as you can. |

I was one of the first to try the dafne system and it has been great for me and gives me a lot more freedom and choice but you do have to put a bit more effort into regular blood testing etc.I have been diabetic since i was 13 years old,and so far i havent had any of the bad things that i know can happen. |
