I have been using the Bayer Contour USB metre for some time now and I am very happy with it. They have now released the Contour Next Metre which includeds a number of new features. But to be able to use it you must have a different type of test strip called Contour Next.

Does anyone know why they have done this, and why they couldn't just enhance the meter and keep the same test strips. It's just a nuisance when you have to ask your GP to change the test strip you use.

Thanks
David

could be for any number of reasons, but most likely money will be involved somewhere, either to make it, or save it........ Very Happy

its likely the price of these strips aren't much different from each other so the GP should be cool........

It due to the regulations regarding how accurate test strips need to be. The Next strips are more accurate and will meet the new regulations.

Hi Nikki, which regulations ? I am just curious to know how they are supposed to be improving the accuracy and what that accuracy should be Smile
Obviously mine need to be improved since they show my readings to high all the time Wink
You can bet they will cost more though even if it is for regulatory reasons, we are not talking about charities here after all....
