I graduated from the DAFNE course about 6 months ago. I found it absolutely brilliant and my control has been so much better since.

The one thing I have always struggled with is BG control in connection with exercise and this can be annoying as I am a cyclist who uses the bike for travel/town-commuting and mountain biking for leisure.

As a result of this frustration I have started a blog about life as a diabetic who wants to stay fit, healthy and enjoy exercise - specifically cycling - in order to live a healthy life. If anyone was interested, please feel free to have a look:

Any comments welcome!

Nice! I'm certainly interested in what you discover during your exercise adventures since it can be a bit of a pain in the bum!
I noticed you started following the DAFNEOnline Twitter feed this week; nice to see you on here too! Smile

Thanks for the replies - I'll try to post as much as I can and hopefully people will join the discussion.

@ JWo Just noticed that you maintain the twitter page for the DAFNE - nice to see it's a graduate doing that! If there was ever a chance of a wee tweet about the blog in the next few weeks that would be great. As I say, it would be great to get people involved.

Dafne has been so important to me and has really turned my diabetes control around! the one thing that still seems to be slightly erratic in my regime is exercise - hence the blog. I also feel that it will be beneficial to me as I can use it as something of an extended diary to catalogue more than just BGs and CPs. Hopefully it will be of interest or even use to people - early days yet.

I just checked the messages and retweeted both your mentions. I like to think of looking after the DAFNEOnline feed as doing my bit to raise awareness of DAFNE. Smile I'll add you back so I can help you promote!

Thanks a lot JWo - very kind of you. I also think it's really important to raise awareness of DAFNE and will certainly be singing it's praises on the blog. I'm also going to try to get connected to Facebook but I'm a bit of a novice on that front!

If I can help with anything please let me know.

Thanks again.

hi there. I like the idea of your blog. I'm not too sure how these blog things work but was thinking about putting together one as I'm getting back into exercise after a couple of years doing nothing, so I'm not super fit. Dafne is brilliant but a bit weak on advice on sport over 2 - 3 hours where you eat while you train/race (and eating for fuel not as a hypo preventative). will try to apply dafne as much as possible. this is this week's plan (1st week back into it) Tues 30 min run/walk Wed swim 1 hr Thur run/walk: Sat - 3 hr "brick" session 7am 1 hr swim consume about 50gr CHO then bike 50 mins 50 gr CHO then run 30 mins (more of a waddle/walk as not that fit). then shower and all have brunch at local cafe about 10am (best part!!).
