Hi everybody,
After many trials and tribulations me and my partner have secured a visa to move to Sydney!
Are there any sydney-siders on here that can recommend good GPs/consultants to register with and any tips from anyone that has emigrated regrading prescriptions and things? I've asked my GP and he said he's only going to give me one months supply to take with me
Thanks

When do you arrive? Not living in Sydney but lived there and visit fairly frequently.
It really does depend on where you live. You do not have to register. You simply rock up and ask to see someone. If you don't like that one you can change. Ask around your beighbourhood. I have found people are a little reluctant to recommend a single GP but are happy to recommend a clinic. Ask about awareness of diabetes specifically (they will all say that they are knowledgeable but the one I go to now was DAFNE unaware....I think he checked up after taking me on and over time we have built up a good relationship). Whenever i have changed GP I usually rock up and introduce myself taking prescriptions etc that I have been given before I actually need to see them for something specific . Most GP's here are happy to pass on "histories". I trust your current GP will give you a synopsis of your health history to bring with you! Good luck. Helen

Register with My Diabetes My Way and you will be able to view your medical records where ever you are. You can let the Austrailian doctors look at them too if they have internet access in the clinic.
